I've got a cosponsor (my dad) and he has multiple properties. If he lists them, does he have to provide evidence? Also does he have to provide evidence of stocks he has? His salary meets the requirement, and he will have an employer letter. So do assets need proof then?
I am kind of clueless about this (my I-134 is fairly straightforward) and I want to figure everything out for my dad beforehand.

Thanks.

From what I've read, if the sponsor meets the 125% salary level then nothing else is really needed. I suppose it could be different if a cosponsor is involved though.

I easily meet the salary requirement but I'll probably show my checking account (~$2000) just in case.

But they need a bank letter, right? And a tax return, even though the form says this is only for the self-employed?

I plan to provide a letter from my employer, and copies of W-2 forms and tax returns, which I believe will meet the requirement. I'll include copies of my checking acount bank statement for good measure.

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

Alex+R,

A sponsor needs to document whatever figures they enter on the affidavit of support or there's no sense entering the information. If claimed income and assets are not documented the information will be ignored.

One can provide as much or as little information on the I-134 as they wish. They just need to provide enough to qualify as the sponsor or they wasted their time filling out the form and gathering the documentation.

Yodrak, to clarify, my dad can ONLY list his salary, and since that covers the requirement, that's completely legal? No mention of mortgage, properties, stocks, all that other stuff? Leave everything else blank?

Just really want to be clear!

Alex+R,

Yes, but....

In keeping with my campaign to encourage good habits, I would not leave anything blank or enter 'N/A'. I would - I did - write '0' (zero). But perhaps it's better to write, as an attorney once suggested, 'not provided' in any space where there is information that could have been provided but wasn't. The benefit of this might be in the event that the case officer decides what has been provided is insufficient - instead of assuming there nothing more, they might instead ask if you want to change your mind about providing the missing information.
