My husband has the 2 year conditional card however he was just notified that he will need to go into Unemployement (due to weather). He will assume his position when the weather allows approximately in March. This situation will not force us to ask for assistance like welfare or food subsidized programs and I make more than enough to support him until then.

Will the fact that he has asked for unemployment benefits affect the possibility of him being approved for the permanent card? Do they care as long as we are not getting into debt? Should I be worried?

Thanks

Being unemployed is not a problem. Filing for and collecting Unemployment Insurance is not a problem Being in debt is not a problem.

Just make sure that he is truly eligible for Unemployment payments, based on the rules of your state, the kind/amount of work he's done and the reason for his separation from the employer.

None of these things will be asked about in the removing conditions phase.

Removal of conditions is only about demonstrating that the marriage is bona fide and was not entered for the purpose of evading immigration laws. It's not about re-evaluating admissibility on public charge grounds, re-evaluating the affidavit of support, or re-doing any of the other work you did to show admissibility.

Hello everyone
I have also been experienced unemployment 4 6 months. But I think my situation is gradually getting better. I have 2 year conditionally Green Card. It will expired on Nov 2007. I would also file 4 removing of condition on August. I just wonder like if I apply for Food Stamp, Subsidized Housing, and other welfare programs. Will it effect my chance of successful removing my conditional Green Card? I just wanna know if anybody have applied for public assistance and still get the Removing of Condition Green Card.
Thank you very much
