Mike and Adriana
I joined the board a while back and have been actively posting. But I recently noticed this section and realized that I had never properly introduced myself.

My name is Mike and I live in Florida. I visited Bogota for the first time (and Colombia for the second time) in May, where I met my wife, Adriana. When I visited Bogota, I had no expectation of finding a wife and getting married so quickly. But sometimes things just happen - it was one of those things.

I spent a good deal of time last summer in Colombia. I spent about three weeks in July (two separate trips). I spent another week in August, at which time we decided to get married. We could have opted for a long engagement, but we both decided against it, particularly because of the time it takes to get a visa. So, decided to get married by a notary in September and then have a wedding blessing and reception in Bogota in October.

We filed the I-130 days after our wedding...and then our I129F after that. Adriana has a 9 year old daughter who I adore. We await the day when we can all be together in Florida. Meanwhile, I try to visit Bogota as often as possible, which has been, on average, every three weeks. I hope I can keep it up until the visa gets approved.
Jenn!
Welcome, Mike! Best of luck to you an Adriana on your visa journey!

Welcome Mike and Adriana. Your story sounds familiar. I went to Bogota last summer and also had no intentions of marrying. Just to meet and spend some time together. I was there all summer and loved it, came back married as well. Look into the Regional discussion page and look at the info for the Colombian Club with Peter Miami's posts, he is a great help. There are several of us who are dealing with the Colombian end of things here and we all help each other sharing any info we can about the Bogota embassy. Again welcome, and good luck. Keep us informed as we are all looking at the same issues together.
