Well....my interview is in a week...
and I have some questions I hope you guys will be able to help me out

1) Question 18 on the DS157 form asks if I made any travel arrangements and if I did state them. So is it better to make travel arrangements before the interview or wait untill after... what would work better for the interviewer?

2) Also in 156 form asked if anyone pettitoned for immigrant visa for you. My mom filed for an immigrant visa for me a couple of months ago...would that be a problem at interview?

3) I just recieved the I 134 forms from fiance and co sponcer.... on question 11 fiance answer as N/A, but the co-sponcer answered that she will finance me for 2 years.... arent the sponcers supposed to be responsible for 10 years?

4) My fiance doesnt make much money he is self employed and just got out of college..so the only thing he put on I134 is the sum of his life insurance... will that be a problem? the co sponcer make more than enough though...

ok I know this is alot..but please answer what you can
thank you in advance!!! helpsmilie.gif rose.gif

1) Depending on the consulate it has taken anywhere from a few days to 2-3 months for the visa to be delivered... probably not a good idea to make travel arrangements priot to the interview. However, several members here have done that so who am I to tell you no.
2) You need to be honest, but I do not think it will make a difference as both VISAs have the intention of you becoming a permanent resident.
3) No clue about co-sponsor... yordak?
4) hmmm, hopefully they will use the co-sponsors income and not ur fiance's...

good luck, Ken

You don't need to fill in the DS-157. That is for males between 16 and 45 only.

As for travel arrangements, I wouldn't make any until after the interview. You never know what may or may not happen.

When they asked me when I planned to travel I just told them mid November. There was no problem.
juliekins
thanks...

but would my mom appllying for me during my fiance process be a problem at the interview?

for some reason the Embassy sent me the 157 form in my packet
PlatyPius
They send the 157 to everyone.

I'm not sure I understand the "would my mom appllying for me during my fiance process be a problem at the interview?" question.

Ok, I just saw your other topic. Now the question in this topic makes a little sense.

No one here can tell you if it will or not. Were both of these filed in 2006? If your mother filed for you in August of 2006, AFTER you'd already filed the K1, then yes.....it COULD cause a problem. I don't know if it WILL, but it could. Multiple visa petitions to get you to the US *could* be taken as you wanting to be in the US more than wanting to immigrate for marriage.

Since your interview is in a week, I would just explain to them the reasons for the other application (whatever they are) and provide as much evidence for your relationship as possible.

Awwww... I am so worried now.... in my packet the ask me that i need proof of engagement.... what does that mean? I thought i needed proof that I know my fiance and that we have an ongoing relationship....how do you prove engagement...?
Magenta
Engagement ring receipt. Engagement party pictures if you had one and so on...

You will also need to take plenty of evidence of relationship. Phone records, letters, emails, MSN convo's etc, airline ticket stubs if you have visited him...and so on.

Nope. My fiance and I have not set a date. I passed my interview and they didn't even ask when did I plan to get married.

You have an engagement ring, that should probably be all right. Try not to worry too much! smile.gif

A co sponsor is responsible for 10 years, until you get citizenship or have worked 40 quarters in the USA. I know that once you do AOS stateside you will have to file a I-864 and this is the binding financial agreement that you will not be a burden to the USA taxpapers.

Good luck on your interview.

Where are you getting this information from?
PlatyPius
Hmmm..... maybe from the experience of going through it ourselves? Or maybe it was the instructions with the package that said "Males 16-45 Only".....

And if you still doubt us:

http://www.visapro.com/US-Immigration-Forms/Form-DS-157.asp

In black and white.

(ignore the fact that the site is one big advert though.... tongue.gif )

And it talks too...so apologies for that aswell!! laughing.gif

They send it to everyone. Yes I'm sure.

Incidentally, you send that form back with the DS-230 and packet 3 contents, if they needed it you would have gotten a letter. You don't take the DS-157 to the interview....

Cuz she check the (Intend) box and wrote "Financial Assitance at $xxx per month for 2 years"

does she need to re do the I134 all over again???!?!?!!?!?!? wacko.gif

different Embassys can have different requirements. we're going thru Manila where both male and female submit the DS-157. Just like if we post a question about CFO, if you're not going thru Manila, you might ask Huh?

This statement in not true and not applicable across the board. The site provided and the exact statement concerning the DS-157 says the DS-157 is now required for all males between 16-45... the word "ONLY" is not in their at all and it is required for Manila. Ken

How anal. I added a word, whoopee doo. whistling.gif

First off, best of luck juliekins! I have emailed the Abu Dhabi consulate twice now, and always recieved a quick and helpful response. You could probably do the same, inquiring with them about the questionable form, and what they require with regards to support documentation.

You will do fine! yes.gif I can understand your nervousness though.

Hmm . .must be a UK thing, because they require all applicants fill one out in the Philippines. And the info on your link seems to be dated 2002.
