Hi all,

My wife just got her instructions for the interview and I noticed that it says that after the interview approval, "passports containing visas will be returned in sealed envelopes via courier service. Applicants should NOT open their envelopes and must hand carry them on the plane".

Ok....if she's not allowed to open the the envelope to get her passport, how is she going to get on the plane in the first place?

I think you will find the actual text is "Passports containing visas and the additional documents will be returned to applicants in sealed envelopes via our courier service",

i.e. the additional docs are in the sealed envelope not the passport

The visa paperwork is in the sealed envelope, not the passport, as this will have her temp greencard stamp in it !

Oh and please can you fill in your timeline good.gif

Hey,

Do not open the brown Myserious Envelope which has stamp on it and clearly says Do Not Open on it..

You will receive your passport and that brown envelope togather.

Good Luck,

You get one outer envelope. Inside that envelope is an inner "mysterious" envelope that is supposed to remain sealed, plus the passport with the visa, (and maybe another paper or two).

It can be confusing, because both envelopes are brown, at least they were for us. The outer envelope is addressed to the immigrant. The inner envelope has writing on it that clearly says it shouldn't be opened. I've forgotten the exact phrasing used, but it's clear to anyone who reads and understands English.

You must open the outer envelope in order to get the passport with visa, and you'll almost certainly need the passport with visa to check in to the airline flight.

You must NOT open the inner envelope, but instead you hand it to the immigration officer when you enter the US.
