I sent regular letters and cards and they got to St. Thomas in good time. Whenever I was in a hurry or sending documents, I used FEDEX.

Me too!! FedEx to Montego Bay got there in two days....and I didn't even want it to get there that fast. You can't go wrong with them or DHL....at least they have a pretty good tracking system. Even here in the States -- FedEx or DHL if it must get there....

Thanks guys, I wasn't ina rush to get it to him so I sent it withthe postal system but I guess next time I will know better. I have tracked it with the postal system but they keep responding with "May 8, 2006 in Jamaica's custom" I am just getting fustrated, I really hope they don;t thinktheat it has anything on it. Thanks though I will call the regular customs and see if they can give me an answe.

I send my letters either Global priority (5 to 14 days) or express 2-5 days.

Just saw my little tiny niece she just weighed 6 pounds even. So tiny and cute I held her for two hours. It was a big family party in the room. Lots of pictures of her. So percious.

My bridal shower was fun. No games down to business to open presents. I received a gift card from Target, serval green towels for my kitchen, a hand blender, crock pot, cookie sheets, cake caddy, cake mix, wooden spoons, measuring cup, waffle maker, wall clock, picture frame, bath room towel set, bath mat, kitchen mat, pot holders, tea kettle, wooden paper towel holder, junk drawer organizer, sliverware organizer, pasta holder, crockpot and two crock pot cooking books. It was very nice and the cake was so pretty. Now I can get rid of all my old kitchen towels and give them to my brothers.

Next week on Tuesday the other school host a bridal shower for me. They are having a luncheon for me. Em a potato bar and my favorite desserts. Wonder what I will be getting next. It is nice that you can cheat and look online laughing.gif What would we do without the net...

Thanks for putting me on the Plist. I wonder how long it takes for your system to clear from birth control. Dwain told me to stop taking them when I got back from last trip. Its funny because he is the one years ago that told me to go on them. Crazy. Maybe we are going crazy baby and new place for him but we think its about time. I would like to have to before I turn 31 at least and I will be 28 this year.

Who got voted of American Idol.. Hmmm I missed that I went out to eat with my other bro after visiting the hospital.

Cheap hotel deal on the beach awsome. Wish I could find that in MoBay. But my 20 dollar room is not bad no air condition but hey I have a fan. Try staying there in August... No TV... Its great if you like to read. And it didn't have warm showers until recently. Dwains mom takes care of the clean sheets and her friends clean it for me. She use to when she lived there. I will have to check your place out in Ocho maybe that would be a good away night for Dwain and I alone after the crew leaves. By that time we might be going crazy staying with each other for a straight week. I have never done that with him he usual has to work and when I went with school I was teaching. hmmmmm

I will have to check out some of those JA movies sometime... D and I don't watch a lot of movies.
I am so wasted from exhaustion. Im off to bed.

Where do you live????
Dee, you silly girl, I am always tellin ya how close we are...at least compared to everyone else. (Just kiddn ya) lol We live in Lincoln, Nebraska, but the trailer we have is like 5 hours away, north and west of here, BEFORE any major cities to pollute it. The fish out of there taste soooo good and clean.

Lake makes some coconut milk with fish and he puts spinach in it too, its about the best stuff I ever tasted. And to think, when I was a child, I didnt want ANY of my food mixed up, God is getting even with me being such a terror. I wouldnt even eat my food if one item TOUCHED another. Good grief, what a brat I was.

And Rhonda, I have to breath a sigh of relief now that I have moved down on the list. laughing.gif

Yea, Jamie, its always been a dream of mine to kind of live in the middle of nowhere as well. This trailer we have is really neat, but its not on our land, and the folks are SO picky, if we dont get up there to mow and take care of it, they can evict you with 3 letters of warning, even tho you paid for the trailer. Your just outta luck, so on the one hand its a great lil spot to have to get away, on the other hand, I SURE wished we owned the land so we didnt have to worry about going up EVERY other weekend. sad.gif But its pretty, right on the Missouri River, and you can sit in the kitchen and watch the deer and turkey out in the field, and hear the wippoorwills at night. It really relaxes my soul, I hate the city. Well, some wouldnt call Lincoln a city, but for a country girl, it sure is. We are going up tomorrow to take care of the yard, and plant some stuff, and mebbe fish a bit, if the weather cooperates.

It looks like the weather may FINALLY be straightening up, 75 and sunny here today. good.gif
Oh my goodness Jill...that sounds sooooo nice! Maybe we should have the meet up at your place yes.gif
So is there any way you can buy the land under the trailer? I can see how that wouldn't be the best deal. What kind of trailer do you have? About how big is it?

Jamie, the trailer is only 2 bedroom but quite big, 76 feet long, but only 1 bathroom, huh.gif , other than that, its a really pretty trailer, older but its got these big wraparound kitchen windows over the whole kitchen/front area that really make it open and cute. I fell in love with it the minute I saw it, unfortunately land on the river is very hard to come by and the guy that owns it is not about to sell it, as its a gold mine for him. He used to be an ok guy but greed got the best of him and now he is a old fart, and doesnt wanna spend a dime to improve things. He has about 70 trailers in that area, and it IS nice that he makes everybody keep them up, but sometimes they get carried away with weird rules, like no campers allowed, etc, except for just the weekend, dumb things like that.
I would love everyone to come...of course its like in the middle of nowhere, but if you like playing on the water, its great, we just havent had the funds to buy a boat, 4 wheeler, or jet ski or any of the fun stuff yet. One of these day I hope. Its right on the S. Dakota/Ne border by a town called Lynch, of all things.

Joanna I woke up thinking about you this morning, don't know why.... are you feeling better????
Please don't get mad when I say this...I'm sure that you don't have a case of cold feet, but like everyone else has has said well all went through it. Can you image your life without this person in it? That was the deciding factor for me. Knowing that when I picked up the phone a smile came over my face and I had no control over it biggrin.gif .I just wanted to add that he is giving up a lot to come here to be with you. This is very serious. I can image what he is going to feel like if you bring dought to the table this early on. You to have a long way to go. Also in marriages we are supposed to stand alone..... independent of all others except god of course...I know you are and your family are close...just remember it's time to let go... Your parents love you they will always be there you. You are very blessed, remember though you are their little girl and they are not going to be as easy forgiving as you are to your hubby...somethings they should not know...This is not a easy process, I take that back most things they should not know...I learned that the hard way blush.gif These are just my opinions. I hope that I did not offend you in anyway rose.gif DEE

Good Morning rose.gif

I hate to kill the mood so early in the morning but we got some bad news last night. Our beloved pastor in Jamaica died. He was the one who took Andre in and trained him up in church, his son and Andre are the best of friends. This is also the man who took me in and allowed me to stay in his home for months at a time and watched out for me. He taught me the ways of Jamaica and the ways of God. I was baptized in his church and truly came to know God through this man and his preaching. He had been sick for many years with strokes and other ailments but no one saw this coming...he had been hanging on for so long.

To make things even harder on his family (he has 11 children) one of his daughters and her husband gave birth to their first baby only hours after he was gone. So if you could all please say a prayer for their family and the community as well as Andre and myself. It is really hard to go through this 3,000 miles away and as much as we would like to go down for the funeral we don't have the funds nor does Andre have his greencard. Thanks in advance for the prayers...I know they will be powerful heart.gif

Good morning everyone!!! Hope you are all having a fantabulous Thursday.
I have allergies really bad, but it's all good. It's such a nice day outside.

Oh guess what Guys??? Henry got his first paycheck last night!!!! I was sooo excited! It came at the right time and we do need it. So we are giving thanks!! The best part was seeing the deduction for his pension!! It's like you are preparing for the future. We had a great talk about his idiot relatives that are working under the table and bragging about their take home being big. eeediots! I explained that they do not have benefits, they don't have a pension plan and he does. So I encouraged not to get obsessed with all the deductions an taxes, just focus on taking care of his family and building a nest egg.

On as selfish note, I am hoping he buys me some flowers for being such a good and patient wifey. whistling.gif

Mindy - LOST was goooood! Can you tell me what happened in the first 8 minutes...I got caught up with online banking and missed it. When I turned on the TV Michael was with a male other and Zeke was about to grab him. What did I miss???? helpsmilie.gif Cannot wait until next week. PS Thank God for Sayid ..."the voice of reason crying in the wilderness!" yes.gif

Mindy - LOL at Roy's dream. But usually you dream about fish so when starts dreaming that you are cooking fish....look out! laughing.gif

Jill - listen lady, there is NO way you can marry a Guyanese or a Trini and not get used to "mix up food" LOL The trini staple pelau is a pot of rice with everything thrown in. I love it - in Guyana its called cook up - its my favorite. On a separate note, I read of a Trinidadian entreprenuer who opened a restaurant somewhere in TX and it was a hip beautiful joint and it opened with a buzz, but after a week the place was empty. They tried to determine what went wrong...so the polled the people on the street and former customers. Know what the prob was - some one said - americans do not like their food to touch...stop mixing everything togther. Serve three distinct things on a plate so we can eat them individually. Now to a west indian born and bred - that is just plain dumb. laughing.gif (Ask Lake about dhal and rice with codfish and spinach!! Mmmmmm)

I have to agree with Dee here, I too get a smile on my face and little butterflies in my stomach everytime I think I am going to call Paul. It ti also true that youi need to stand alone and make decisions on you own free will. The things I tell you guys here my family don't know. Yes they are Jamaican but they (especially my mom and older sister) think that Paul only married me to get his paper- what they dont now is I propose not him cool.gif . Jamie,
I am sorry to hear of the lost. Encourage your spirit some with the fact that this beloved man of God, is now in a place where the ailements that attacked his body for so long will not trouble him anymore, and the life he lived for God, he is now recieving his reward. Stand strong around your husband and help encourage him with this knowledge.

the fat part of me says boiled yam, sweet potato and/or some other root. the part of me that wants to eat more veggies says: steamed broccoli, cauliflower, zuchinni - i have had it both ways and while the root starches are more comforting - the veggies once they are not too soft work well. Henry has also done rice and gungo peas as a side.

Speaking of peas, I need a recipe for Bajan doved peas.

Thanks everyone for the replies, I will check the sites out. I will try my best to make some of the dishes Rohan loves, but I told him he must understand, I am an born and grown American, and have no idea how to make many of the dished he loves, even if I tried it , it will probably still not taste like what he is used to. Besides I told him. rice in America is a side dish not a Main meal no0pb.gif . It is beyond me how he pile up his plate with enough rice for everyone and then add some meat in the midst of the moutian of rice. ohmy.gif

Thanks everyone for all the kind words, thoughts, prayers and encouragement luv.gif

He was very much a father figure for both of us so it is an extremely hard loss.

I think the hardest part of it all is that this is the first time that it has really hit Andre that he is not there. Obviously he knows he is here and all but its the first time he was ever like "wow...I am not there and I should be." He is adjusting fine here and really starting to enjoy things but when we found out this happened I think the guilt of leaving his friends, family and community really came to the surface. I know it is a difficult time for him, for us both, and I am being as supportive and encouraging as I can...but its so hard when all he wants to do "is go home where he should be" crying.gif

Thats great good.gif Andre is getting his check tomorrow...he can't wait. I like how you explained the deductions and everything...I will definitely have that talk with Andre tomorrow. Thanks for the insight yes.gif

Fish dreams! I remember going to JA church one day and a woman coming up to all the young girls (single and married) and telling us that she has been dreaming of fish for days...WHO IS IT? I was so confused until Andre explained it to me. When that happened the lady was so serious she was a little scary. Sure enough though one of the teenagers in the
