That is the best news I have heard in a long, long time. Congratulations!! You two really have been put through the "ringer." YIPEE!!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif jest.gif good.gif

Joanna -- I threw out a TON of crap....but I still will never have enough room for the two of us. I am a clothes and shoes horse and for all the room I made for him, it is disappearing on a daily basis -- I went to Curves this morning and this girl had on the cutest capri's. She said she got them at Kohl's.....Left Curves and I was at Kohl's at 8:05 -- home by 8:30 and had to sneak the bag into the house with my six new pairs of workout pants. Unfortunately, I made it to the laundry room with the bag but got busted while I was taking the tags off laughing.gif

I gave him the bedroom. He has the whole closet and the armoir. All my stuff is everywhere else in the house. Luckily he doesn't/hasn't really noticed how much stuff I really have.

laughing.gif Six pairs of workout pants laughing.gif I'm going to check out Kohl's before I pick Damien up from work.

Hello everyone,
I'm just popping in to say it's so encouraging to see so much good news happening here.
Congrats on Damien's and sbj1221's AOS approval(that was a long time coming yes.gif )
Also best wishes on all the upcoming biometric appointments
Safe travels to all going to JA in the near future
Also congrats to all of the other approvals/NOA's along the way-every step forward is good.
For everyone still struggling with the immigration process; family adjustments, or financial struggles due to this exhausting process-please hang in there.

Have a great weekend everyone,

jkb919
good afternoon,

Well I just woke up..hope everyone is having a great easter!!!

Adrian just gave me his flight schedule to return to JA tomorrow and it is going to take him 21 hours to get from Hawaii to JA...that sucks for him...he has to fly from Hawaii to Dallas and then to Miami for a 6 hour lay over then on to JA...I was going to drive down to Miami to see him for his layover but it is a 4 hour drive for me...so I dont think I will go down there, I will see him in a few weeks anyway yes.gif ...he will leave Hawaii at 4:55pm tomorrow and arrive JA 7:00pm Tuesday...I feel sorry for him, hope he gets some sleep on the plane..poor thing biggrin.gif

Does anyone know when Tenika was coming back to the US?...I cant wait to hear about the interview!!!

Until later, Joanna

A few weeks ago Henry's nephew got window #10 guy and even though he was an obnoxious little sh*t to window 10 guy, he was approved nonetheless. What a saint that man is! I think he just knew this kid has issues (scared to come to US and join his VERY strict dad - he knew his running wild thru the parish days were over. laughing.gif )
Window #10 man told him to go sit down, think about whether he wanted to go to US and then he will call his number again later - when he came back the second time, he quit with the sarcasm and just answered the questions.

My weekend was filled with work, so I'm trying to recover, so that I can finish up the last few days of this night job. sad.gif

I wish I had thought about ordered David Bun and cheese for easter sad.gif He was really home sick this weekend.

I got my taxes done/mailed in time, glad thats over, I ended up getting a refund...I cannot believe it! Thank goodness they can just keep it to pay off the rest of what I owe from the year before tongue.gif

Yeah, Roy dropped that one on me Saturday afternoon.....THANK GOD we found some at the African Grocery near our house. He was complaining to the poor African woman about how expensive it was ($8.50 for a loaf) she almost killed him until I explained that he was not complaining about her prices but more complaining that is was so much more expensive than Jamaica......It was really funny....the white American girl trying to break up the fight between the Jamaican and the African. laughing.gif The easter bun is very important. Damien brought a large loaf ($8.50) last weekend and it was gone in a few days, way before Easter. So he asked me to go back Saturday and I accidently brought a small loaf($5). Boy, was he upset whistling.gif This is from a man who eat bun & cheese two or three times a year.

I actually look forward to some bun & cheese even tho I eat it through out the year. My mom and sister fried fish from Thurs night (was told it's tradional not to light the stove on Good Friday) and we've been eating fish all weekend. Remind you I'm not a big fish eater but since I've been on my diet I have been eating a lot more then usual. My Grandmother in JA makes the bomb a** fish. I usually bring back from load when I come back and it's usually done in a few days. lol Man, I miss her so much!!!

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELVES (YOU, SPOUSE, AND KIDS - IF ANY) ONE YEAR FROM TODAY?

One year from today, by God's grace:
    • Our AOS application will have been transferred to CSC and Henry will have his green card
  • We will have sold my home and purchased one together
  • We will be parents of a healthy little girl (or boy if the Lord pleases)
  • I will be strong and healthy
  • I will have a viable home business so I can stay home with our little girl after maternity leave runs out

Elizabeth????? Did anyone else pick up on this? No one sure said anything....I have been waiting to hear your results, girl!!! Are u preggers? You say your a day late and then not another word..come on now, fess up! Anyhow, congrats on Henry getting work, the hospitals rock for benefits! I have a friend who gets FREE health insurance even, the lucky dog. And glad things are going better healthwise for your family.

Also congrats an good luck to everyone else with all the good news!

Update on Lake, its so funny. He loves garage sales, and we went to one the other day where EVERYTHING was 50 cents. This lady also had this bright purple ladies bicycle for sale for 50 cents as well. So Lake cant resist a bargain, you know. And its a GOOD nice bike, just pretty girly.
He had to have it, so now he is whelling around the neighborhood, this macho looking guy, on a bright purple bicycle. Its just too cute!

Also, he starts a temp job today, at the same place he WAS going to work before, until something better comes along, hopefully. Since its thru the staffing agency, no benefits, but at least its something coming in. He has been SO stressed about not working this last 2 weeks that he has been NO fun to be around at all. We went off for a week to do work up a trailer we have on the river, and he was a pain most of the time, moping around and saying he was bored, even tho we had a lot of work to do, and it was like having a 5 year old around trying to get him to do ANYTHING. He is normally SUCH a hard worker, it was like a different guy took over. So we did NOT have a good time, and I was hopng for it to be a kind of getaway and alone time together before he starts working and we arent able to. sad.gif He just wasnt able to enjoy it, since he thought he should be home WORKING, even tho I tried to explain we would get him soomething/anything when we got home. headbonk.gif

And on the baby, she is back over her birth weight after losing, from being born at 3 lbs 7 oz, down to 3, now two weeks old and she made it back to bw on Saturday! So...she is doing quite well, we are anxious for the 4 lb mark! She is still not sucking on her own tho, so they have to use feeding tube. Things going well tho! smile.gif
Take care all.

Hello Ladies,

I know it has been Quite some time since i ahve been around, but life has been real busy since Karl arrived. We are getting married this Saturday, and we have 90 people attending, so iI have had som extensive planning to do, and preparation in such a short period of time. But it will all pay off come this weekend!

It has definetly been an experience, living with someone versus the long distance relationship, alot of adapting to our living ways. I wouldn't trade it for the world. We just this weekend went to a show at a local club that had T O K, it was a great show!!! Well I just wanted to stop in and say Hello to all, and hope all is well!!!

Another poll added in Yahoo, but I'd like to discuss it here as well

GED - IS YOUR SPOUSE PLANNING TO TAKE THE TEST OR HAS ALREADY TAKEN AND PASSED/FAILED IT?
We're on the waiting list for GED prep courses now (free). I talked to a university here and they told us that once hubby gets green card he qualifies for financial aid (grants, scholarships, etc.) kicking.gif .

They asked for his JA transcripts to analyze them and see if he can enroll or if he needs GED...we decided to just take GED anyway (it will help on his resume until he gets Bachelors degree). And knowing how slow things can be back a yaad (I seriously doubt they will fax transcripts in time for May 1st enrollment), he can go to school and study for GED until he's ready to take the test. Praying for a fast green card approval!

Minfay
Roy went and took the placement tests for the GED classes -- he didn't do too well. blush.gif

He was given a verbal test -- the woman who did the testing thinks that his problem is in the translation and that he would be lost if she put him right into the GED prep classes.....so, he is now in ESL classes....working up to the GED classes <it came down to something so stupid as her saying "subtraction" and him only understanding it as "take away."

They are all free here at our local community college. He really likes going to school. He goes Monday, Wednesday & Friday.....and we work on things every night at home.

Really? So how does he fit in at ESL classes?
Minfay
Well.....I wish I could go in and spy on him......whistling.gif

He said a lot of people in the class can't speak English. But, he is learning. I think it's gonna actually do him alot of good. It really is all in the translation and the stuff that they are working on forces him to use proper English -- which, I don't because I don't do it either.....and I can understand what he is talking about. That's really good that Roy is taking classes and he LIKES them! My best advice to all you newbies is to get your man in classes ASAP when he gets here. For one, it will give him something constructive to do so he's not bored out of his mind and also, this is the best time for him to do it, before he starts working and gets too busy.

And Mindy, let me know if you need help with those fractions laughing.gif Just don't ask me anything about Calculus blink.gif

Good morning everyone,

Well I am pleased to say that Adrian made it back to Jamaica safely with only a few glitchs...he was over weight on his luggage and had to pay $25.00US and then when he got to JA they made him pay almost $200.00US for the two cell phones that he had, he tried to explain that one was a US phone and one was for Jamaica but they still made him pay..(How stupid is that???)
Buy anyway, today is his birthday although he cannot enjoy it too much he has a lot of running around to do...
I know he has to have his long form birth certificate for the interview but Will they take and keep his birth certificate at the interview?? or can we make a copy for them to keep??

GED - IS YOUR SPOUSE PLANNING TO TAKE THE TEST OR HAS ALREADY TAKEN AND PASSED/FAILED IT?

David is enrolled in GED classes, he did not do very well either on the inital test. They encouraged him to take ESL as well, because right, it forces you to use, understand correct English. If he understood it more he would have done much better, so he is taking it day by day. He was learning fast, he can add and subtract faster than me. He started helping with landscaping, now he needs to get enrolled in the evening class. He also heard through the grape fine that as long as he was enrolled in a GED class he could attend this trade school, where they teach carpentry/painting...all free, once they send him out on "practals" he could start earning pay. yes.gif, once it's okay with the gov huh.gif that is..

Hey Joanna - they kept Michael's original birth certificate at the interview, thankfully he had two copies. I'm glad he's safe and sound in JA yes.gif Is he going for all his certificates today?

Michael never went to anything except for one computer class through Community Ed . I regret that now - I wanted him to go to some but he didn't want to until he could drive, and his EAD came around the same time as his license so he's looking for jobs not classes now.

He wants to go to culinary school or something later so it looks like we'll be dealing with this later.

David's program sounds great - who can pass up free schooling?!!

Glad he is in JA safe yes.gif

He might as well get 2 copies of his BC...you never know when you might need it. The embassy just made a copy of Andre's but you never know with them.

WOW! Free schooling that is wonderful good.gif

Andre never took any classes. He is really good with his English and he has a college certificate from JA so he should be ok. The only classes I wished I could have convinced him to take is computer stuff. Just the basics would be a big help. But like Julie was saying about Michael, Andre also didn't want to take classes til he could drive and he actually got his EAD before his license...now its all about jobs.
thndrdancr
Well, I already told you about Lake and his classes. They are reading comprehension and math, but I guess they actually test you out for the GED in these classes. He is going sooo fast, they gave him third grade stuff to begin with and now he is doing pre-GED stuff, stuff I dont remember either, what each branch of the government does, stuff about global warming, biology, sociology, governemnt, all that. And in Math, he loves his teacher, she really is able to explain it so he understands, he is working on decimals now, just got all finished with fractions. Funny, decimals are tripping him up way more than fractions did, and it was just the opposite with me, I understand decimals a WHOLE lot more than fractions. Blecht!!!

He goes 4 days a week, and I just NOW found out about free computer classes at the job development center, but he will be too wiped to go. sad.gif This temp job he started yesterday, its REAL physical, and he worked pretty much 8 1/4 hours straight. They didnt show him the employee breakroom or anything, they just said if he needs to eat, dont do it right there, go out. Not sure the exact wording, but poor baby took it to mean he had to go OUTSIDE to eat, and it was raining yesterday! So he just stood in the corner, wolfed down the food, and went back to work. Lots of lifting. He is working with two other folks, one gal, and one other guy. Neither one of them introduced themselves, but the gal did chat him up an bit, and laughingly asked at the end of the day if he would be back tomorrow. I told him...well, mebbe the guy didnt talk or introduce himself cuz they see so many people here one day and gone next, you get to where you are like "Whats the point?", but he was still felt slighted the guy never muttered a word to him the whole day. sad.gif

I asked him..well..wasnt it a lot harder doing sugar cane? His reply was yes, but at least he got BREAKS! I told him to take care of himself, and take them, they DID tell him he could break for a few minutes whenever he needed, but he didnt know where to go, so he didnt do it.
Arghhhhh!

Ok guys I have a question…well questions. I am not quite sure how to word it so bear with me.

How do you know when it’s the right time to have a baby? What things did you/do you want to have in place before you decide to have a baby? Do you/did you want a certain amount of money saved up, assets, certain job wage? What are those things? Do those things need to be in place before you decide to have a baby or do you decide to have a baby and then trust that those things will fall into place? I am asking for personal opinions and experience…no right or wrong…just what is right for you.

Also for those that have had children…how much do they really cost? Is it doable on a “regular” income?

Just curious innocent.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif
