Full Version: Renewing temp. CR-1 Greencard

My temp. greencard is up for renewal in May 2007 (my 2 year anniversary) I know it is 6 months away but I know how slow INS is sometimes.

What do I do now? Do I initiate the renewal? or do they send me something? I know they need to proof that we are still together which is no problem, is there anything else they require.

I just wanted to get a jump start on things.

You don't renew the card now, you file to remove conditions, that should be filed within 90 days of expiration of the card, not 6 months, and file form I-751 This will get you the 10 year permanent resident card.

90 days before your temp greencard is due to expire you need to file to remove conditions...

Gee, Aussielad, I thought you gonna mention your "90 calendar days, not days, business days, or moon-phase based days" distinction, again! laughing.gif laughing.gif laughing.gif

Good luck, CanadianMag! -the above is an inside joke, dont pay attention :-) They are all correct, you have to file 90 days before your temp card expires. See other posts in this forum for more details.

For clarity, Dan's got it right---I-751 must be filed in the 90 days before the card expires.
It doesn't have to be filed exactly on day 90 (hey, people ask! smile.gif )
