sorry if this is a question that seems silly but i need your help,i applied for a job at animal hospital and they called me for the interview and i went and i filed the work papers and they said they would call me today for physical test but they did not and when i called they said nothing is wrong we are working on your papers ,my question is?? when you apply for a job how long it takes to start working???thanks a lot.

As long as it takes. They are under no timelines.

The question is very generic, it really depends on the job, employer etc. Some jobs which require thorough background checks (like working with children, government security clearance) can even take months.

My wife applied for a job with the police (not as a police officer) and the process took over 3 months...one clearance after another. In the end she got accepted but by that time she lost interest in the job!
