Marc and Olga
Is the temporary work authorization valid after the marriage happens under the K-1 visa?

Olga and I are trying to decide if it would be better for her to fly through New York instead of LA...she wants to work ASAP....I don't care either way but if she can use the temp work authorization after our marriage, I do not see why not to fly her through New York!

The temp work authorization is good for the duration of her visa. Doesn't matter when you get married.

If she gets a job, she can only work for 90 days. Then she will have to quit her job until she gets an EAD.

Won't she need a SSN before she can get a job? It took almost a month for my husband's Social Security card to arrive in the mail.

This is also something I was wondering about...

How long does it usually take before one can start working/applying for jobs?

Was budgeting for around 3-4 months but not sure

Ah but doesn't the marriage basically invalidate the visa?

I flew through JFK and then onto LAX to get the work stamp, and I think it's worth it. My social security card should be arriving in about a week (2.5 weeks after arriving), and I've submitted my CV to local temp agencies to get some work quickly. Hopefully I'll be able to get something soon! It was also a lot cheaper for me to fly through that way for some reason.

slim and Marc and Olga,

The visa is not relevant. The date that the authorized stay in the USA ends, written on the I-94, is.

Marriage does not end the authorized stay.

Alhamdulillah
Has anyone actually gotten a job using this I-94? Is anyone really willing to hire someone who's going to have to quit in less than three months?
What is the work authorization that you can apply for while waiting on the GC?

I will be flying into JFK and living in NY so hoping to ge the temporary EAD. Excuse my ignorance but do the forms have to be submitted at the airport to get this?
