Once everything is approved, does it matter where you get married?

I'm thinking that it might be nice to have the wedding in my fiance's country. Does anyone know if that's possible?

Would he have to come here first with his visa and then we both travel to his country and back to the US together?

Or would it be better to have everything approved and then I travel to his country, get married and we return to the US?

I haven't even started the process yet, I have a lot of work to do. But I was thinking that a wedding here would be one-sided, with none of his family or friends. sad.gif

Nope, the legal wedding will have to be in the US.

Maybe you could get married in the US and have a big ceremony in your fiance's country a little later?

Read the K1 guide, that will answer most (if not all) of your questions.

If you apply and recieve the K-1 fiance visa, you have to get married in the USA.

If you get married in your fiance's country, you'll have to go home to the US without him, and apply for a spousal visa for him.

You'll have to figure out which will work for you. Best wishes!

It does matter. After having the K1 approved you HAVE to get married in the US or restart the process with a different visa type in case you get married in a country other than the USA.
