It used to take only 2 day to a week for NVC to presses petitions, now they ask for 3-4 weeks,
heck I saw some petition move the same day. What is the problem now, it seems that once you get out of a hole, you just fall into another.

Even then they can't simply copy a name from a I-129F form without making spelling errors.
I'm not sure it's just the NVC though, I think in some cases it is still CSC not sending the files to them.

Hang in there ! My approval was 9/28. NVC received case 10/26 and fwd it to
the embassy 10/30. I didn't get any notification but found out when I called
10/30 that it had been shipped out that day and I asked when it was received.
I tracked the story and was able to see where my case is .......it happens to be in transit
from Belgium now on the way to Senegal embassy in W. Africa.
Just keep emailing and calling them 2-3 times a week and you will get the good news soon.
Then you will find yourself in black hole number 3, the embassy wait.......the last stretch
in the baton race..ehm...crawl !

The wait is life-consuming! However, you've got to admit that waiting for something, and then finally getting even a bit of that something is absolutely EXHILARATING! I know you can relate since you did receive your NOA2's.

The delay has nothing to do with NVC, but with the service centers. NVC handles only preliminary background checks and then forwards the case to the consulate. This process takes usually a week unless it goes into AR. Lately the service centers are taking 3-5 weeks to send approvals to the NVC.

Indeed...NVC only had our petition for two days before they forwarded it. The wait time is on USCIS's hands. They are taking their sweet time mailing them to the NVC.

My theory is that CSC has some new employees who are having sex among themselves and need our files to use as a mattress.
Until enough files are received to replace the 'old mattress', CSC cannot release them (do you expect them to do it on the floor?)

But what about the files that get stuck together?

The problem is with the good old CSC. For some reason they are sitting on the papers after NOA2 approval. They just sit in the postal room at CSC.
My NOA2 was 9/28. It was mailed from CSC to NVC on 10/26. NVC acknowledged it on 11/1.
In my observing the progress of others on this site. 4.5 weeks is the norm.

My NOA2 was approved on 9/18. NVC received petition 10/2/06. It was shipped out to my Consular post 10/10/06.
Mine was only at the NVC for 24hrs till it got shipped out to the embassy. Nearly all the waiting is do to the CSC shipping department I had to wait close to 4.5 weeks before my case got to the NVC the waiting really sucks!!
