Recently my fiance and I got our K-1 approved. I am currently living in Canada and will be moving to California in three weeks or so. I am little confused how one goes about obtaining medical insurance for the US though. Since we are only engaged I will not be covered under his. Does anyone know of any companies that I can buy insurance from, or what the process is exactly? Also, does anyone know how much it costs monthly for one person!? Help!! Thanks, Kristy

As you are supposed to be married within 90 days, I am not sure an underwriter would touch you prior to the marriage. Can you speed up the wedding so you can get coverage as a spouse? If I was the underwriter, I would much rather do that.

When I moved to the US from Canada, I had one month before our wedding day to arrange medical coverage for.

It was through International Medical Group and was called "Patriot Travel Medical Insurance". The premium was $130.23 (USD) for one month, with a policy maximum of $500,000 (USD) and a deductible of $500.00 (USD).

The phone number is: 317-655-4500 (outside the US) or 800-628-4664 (within the US).

Good luck.
