Hi everybody,

I hope I'm in the right section of VJ, my questions is:

does anybody have a "format/example form" of a resume to issue when
you look for a job in US? The reason I ask is because I presume that probably here in US they
prefer to receive the resume of the people who are looking for a job in their way as maybe in
Europe or somewhere else is issued in a different way.

Thanks for anybody who might give me info/help/suggestion or share the personal exepriences this
subject.

Here is a "generic" skeleton-format (some companies will want to use THEIR own variation)

Search Google for 'resume template', you will get thousands of sites.

If you're using MS Word to create your CV, click File > New..., choose the Other Documents tab and select Professional Resume and just fill in the required info.

As per the examples in MS Word, use action words such as:
Increased sales...
Doubled revenue...
Implemented new processes...
Organized a team...
Minimized costs...

and try not to use 'I' as most other CV's tend to do:
I worked at..
I was responsible for....
I hopped up and down on one leg when told to do so...

as a potential employer will want to know more about you, but what they are really looking for is how you might benefit their organization and action words will help show you are pro-active in ensuring the company you currently work for/last worked for benefits/benefited from your presence as oppossed to just using your CV to dwell on 'Me, myself, I'.

Don't forget to use American spellings!

Feel free to use my resume template (which was a template itself) to help guide you. Although you should note that I’m still unemployed laughing.gif although my wife uses the same template and never had any problems biggrin.gif ? Maybe I’m under skilled or not as qualified as I should be huh.gif ?

Good Luck!:)
