Also, after reading about this little 'family' here it seems my wife will be waiting for sometime since our case was just approved in April. Darn.

Sunday June 24th is St. Jean Baptiste Day (Quebec only) the Consulate will be closed on Monday to compensate for the holiday being on a weekend and that may be why the message said call on Tuesday.

As the USC, to all the Canadians, I apologize. I am ashamed that the consolate in Montreal is in any way associated with my country. I wish I knew what their problem was but I have complained to my congressman. There is just no sense in the way that they do things.

The Consulate is closed on June 26 they had a notice on the front door when I was there Tues. stating the building would be closed to the public on that day

Was waiting until Friday to make my 2 week call to Montreal I was gonna email last week but they were really rude the last time I spoke to them on the phone. I almost gave the lady a piece of my mind but had to bite my tongue.

Just to update you, Still nothing from Montreal. I've been spending most of my time trying to convince Sharon not to give up, but she's about at the point of complete despair. She's been living in a room at the YWCA for a while since all of this was supposed to have happened by April, originally. Those 4 walls have been closing in on her for a long time now, and I can understand her frustration waiting for what has seemed like an eternity now. (Just to let you know, she couldn't renew her lease since she was anticipating the move here way back at the first part of this year, so the "Y" was a "temporary" stopgap for a month or two until the appointment. Well, that's turned into 6 months, and looking like it will drag on for at least another couple of months.) I'll let you know.

I can simpathize with Sharon since I have spent sometime at the Y also but I was with my daughter. I am so sorry that you are going through all of this when things should have moved much quicker for you. I hope the very near future brings you the good news that you are waiting for.

I am tired of this same crap from MTL for the past 2 months or so!...

Sharon lives in Ottawa, and I'm in the deep South. It's just been rough, living in a 10 x 8 foot room for as long as she's had to. What started out as a probable 2 month at most stay, has turned into a seemingly endless phase. To top it off, they usually only allow a stay of 6 months maximum, but the manager there has been very kind to her, so at least she's not having to pack up and move AGAIN. We video chat online every day, and seeing "home" and wanting to be here of course just amplifies the depression of sitting alone in that "cell" for lack of a better word. I've been to Ottawa to visit her last August, and if this process keeps dragging out, I'll head that way again soon, but I have to tell ya, closing up my business and moving to Ottawa is looking better and better, lol. I hear Canada is looking for immigrants, maybe we in the US should just pack it up and move North. I think for most of us, it's just been a matter of horrid timing. First, they changed up the rules with the addition of the new background checks last spring, then along comes the Passport regulations which swamped the State Department, and of course the debate about immigration (legal and otherwise) here hasn't helped, with all of our representatives tied up in THAT debate. But to top it off, all you hear about in the news these days are the illegals crossing the borders over and over again, and getting a slap on the wrist, told "now be nice and go home, or we'll have to talk nastier to you next time" while WE get to hear from our Government "quit bothering us, you'll get your turn when we decide you will, so shut up, sit back, and WAIT." Just keep the faith folks, it can't get any worse now could it?

I wish I had heard about this earlier, I live in Ottawa and am moving from a 2 bedroom to a batchelor on August 1st since I have more waiting time and because of the wasted space since my daughter moved out with 90% of the funishings. If I had a furnished bedroom for her she could have had a better environment to spend her time than the Y does. There are others here from Ottawa that if they read this just might be able to help Sharon with a more decent short term living arrangement.
I am truely sorry that everything is taking so long for you and Sharon, there is no rhyme or reason for Montreal to do as they are. I hope someone from here can help her so it would be much easier on both of you.

Fantastic idea Ron/Sharon!!! Maybe some of the Canadian members in Ottawa can provide a home for Sharon in the meanwhile- that would be just so wonderful.

OK, so I made my punish-yourself-biweekly call to MTL and had the utter pleasure of speaking to the woman with the french accent, aka Ms. Nasty. What an arrogant and unpleasant
She puts me on hold after I give her my case #, and then says "bbwhat douu u bbbwanttt tuuuu konuuuuw?" and I'm thinking (is she really THAT stupid??? )... long story short she gives me sh!t about me calling because "uuu case bwas in marchgg, so nou intebbbiewww"
It was in between hilarious and as usual, depressing.

I only hope now that someone here knows someone that has a decent place that Sharon could share until everything comes together. I hope that Sharon's family and friends are by her side and supporting her as they can. Tinker thanks for planting the seed, I hope something comes of it.

The wait times for interviews is well beyond ridiculous now. Does anyone have any solid info on whether or not Montreal discontinuing with work visas etc, will help bring down the wait time for immigrant visas?

Probablly not... The US consulate Montreal website says that they are discontinuing processing visa applications from people residing in the US as they will be experiencing an extended staff shortage this summer and fall. No mention of bringing down wait times for other visas.

Has anyone at all had an interview scheduled since I was last here over a week ago?

As far as I know, they only schedule interviews around the 15th of each month, so everyone is just hanging tight until then.
On a side note, Neiks had her interview on the 28th, and was approved:)

Just to prepare myself for the 15th of this month (my first time calling in to harass and see if I've had an interview scheduled ,) do I call NVC or Montreal, or both to see if they have scheduled me? I'm going for the CR-1 visa, so I know NVC books the interview, but wasn't sure which place to actually call......

Yeah, I guess it just seemed like NO ONE got an interview scheduled in June (for say July/August)... so I was hoping it didn't mean they were getting even more behind ... but hopefully they'll schedule like crazy in July!! lol

I know, it's super weird - first we get an avalanche of interviews for June and nothing for July... makes me wonder... I kid you not guys, B and I are so tired of this whole shebang. He will be Dr. S. soon enough and is applying for a tenure track position with UWash. If he gets it I don't know WTF I am going to do. Life is insane. I hate the place I work (my "real" job, the Second Cup gig is super fun) and can't wait to move.

There have been a few booked for July (mine's on the 18th) that were booked in June .. not many though.

I really don't think that they book the 15th of the month (I think that they just say that to buy themselves some time).. if you remember my posts, they sent out my interview letter on June 11th (it was booked the Thursday of the previous week). Let's hope they get the ball rolling and start booking this week!!! If you haven't called recently .. I would call this Friday (but then again I can be a bit obsessive)

I knew yours was booked for July... didn't realize/remember it was booked in June though. Your packet 3 was still sent back in January though Mine was sent back toward the end of the month so... well I hope they start scheduling lots of interviews soon!

Ooohh... you said a few... who else was booked in June for July besides you? You're the only one I remember... Did I miss anyone?

What we all need to remember is that the last batch of people we saw get interviews were mostly people with P3 dates in January.... which means right now Montreal is probably scheduling those with P3 dates in February. And, if you take a look at VJ timelines, there aren't many of us here that fall into that time frame. So I'm sure Montreal is going at the same pace as usual, we're just not seeing it is all.
