Mine came in about a week. I would give it until end of next week and then ask them to send out another packet since It might have been misplaced.

Remember MTL sends all their stuff via the quite efficient and sparkling fast Canada Post regular service.... so takes a while. For us in Edmonton it took like 3 freaking weeks, can you imagine???? Letters to my parents in Mexico City get there faster,... I personally think they don't send sh!t out until they have a lot of packet 3's, but that may be just me being paranoid about everything they say and do. Welcome to insanity Liz!!!

Hello my friends ... I sent an email to Montreal this morning and my reply was:

"Your appointment later (yes this was spelt wrong) was mailed last Thursday, the appt is on July 18, 2007 at 8:30 am. Thank you"

I'm so relieved right now at getting a date but my first thoughts are for Alan and Sharon ... call them tomorrow or send them an email to see if you got your date ... I'm pullin for ya!!!

Congratulations Lynette and Ed, it has been such a long time coming, I am very glad for you. I hope that Alan and Sharon come on-line and say they also have their date.

How long did it take you to receive your packet 3's from Mtl??

Cuz when they say it was sent on May 29th, I obviously (incorrectly) assume that it should have been here by now!!!

Well...you know good old Canada Post and the consulate may well not have put the package in when they said....technically this is the 11th business day. If they are like any big company...things get into interoffice mail for a day or so before leaving the building. Since they refuse to use anything other then snail mail...I think you just have to sit tight for another week ...but then, by all means...starting agitating!

To start with that's not very nice and why didn't you just put in a change of address request? All your mail would have been forwarded then.

Also, I didn't put in the mail request because I changed all my bills etc to my new address well in advance of my move so there was no need to.

I guess there was a need,lol I belive it is free to do so!! I had my mail rerouted from Cnada to the USA, can't recall the cost, belive it was like $40.Was worth it though, as I did receive soem mail that I did not expect!! Hope it al lworks out for ya.

I have always had my mail rerouted everytime I moved and have never regretted since there was always something important that came in that was sent in to my old address.

Lynette, could you please post here or PM me once you receive your Packet4/Interview letter in the mail. I just want to know approximately how long it takes from the day they schedule to the time you receive it in the mail.

I'd rather have the earlier interview date but I wouldn't want to put financial strain either knowing there was a way to prevent it without causing unnecessary debt to built up faster!

I do wish I got your original date though, but I still doubt I will get one until Sept.!

Since NVC schedules the IR1/CR1 interviews, are they scheduled any quicker than if the montreal consulate scheduled it?! I know this is wishful thinking, just seeing if anyone knows.

Yes, I didn't forward my mail because I thought I had all my loose ends tied.

My fiance accidentally put that address (which I still is a mistake on his part) but if he realized that putting the address I was moving to in 3 days just makes more sense, this wouldn't have happened.

I've moved before and didn't forward my mail then either (and oh look, the sky didn't fall!)

So, I've since then realized the error, changed the address (which wasn't my mistake in the first place; and the I-129F forms that I filled out and mailed to him did in fact have my new address but for whatever reason, he filled out one too and failed to notice that the address thing would become an issue) and now, everything fine!

SO, can we just stop the harassment about this? It's bad enough that I lost 3 weeks because of this, but I really don't need this from people I once thought of as fellow friends in this process.

Yes NVC schedules interviews for IR1/CR1 and yes they are faster at scheduling than Montreal does for K1/K3

Never ment to berate anyone, Just saying that I am obviously an absentminded person and forget to do stuff even though I think I get all my loose ends tied. I've always signed up for mail forwarding since it makes me more comfortable and it has always helped me out.

Stuff happens; I had to remind my gloating fiance that he'd forgotten to copy all of our I-129F package so we'd have a copy (he was gloating over how I'd be worried he'd mess up. He was not happy to have 'spoke too soon') only to discover when I got Packet 3 from MTL that he'd spelled my name wrong! ("You're marrying me and you don't even know how to spell my name?!" "I was stressing over the rest of the package!" "Grrr" "Snarrl")

This process is so agonizing that we've been snapping back and forth at one another like caged dogs. It helps that we usually recognize the underlying problem shortly, which is that we miss one another desperately and it's hell to be separate like this. The internet leaves immense room for all sorts of misunderstandings, too, doesn't it, which always seems to be a problem on forums especially.



I was pretty surprised at the 'nutty' replies myself! When I talked to MTL yesterday, I got the impression that the wait list was 5 months long, so me asking for an interview 6 months in advance was "not a problem", thus I suspect you might be right in your Sept estimate.

Does anyone else giggle over the accent of the french half of the MTL menu? I mean, I'm impressed that it's there, since presumably they aren't required to have it because the US consulate is technically an American government office and therefore not bound by Canada's bilingual laws.

I had to laugh when i read on this forum that other posters have gotten that horrible accented woman on the phone at the MTL consulate. First time i called her i had 3 questions, she answered one (rudely) and then hung up me. That accent is French, btw. She must be a Quebec native that works there, which is odd.

About the forwarding address thing: I have moved 3 times since this process began ( i live in Toronto and it is hard to find a living arrangement that does not require a lease, so i've been doing temporary arrangements), let MTL know of my new address every time, and they still sent to my original address.

I received my letter today .. it was post marked on the envelope June 11th ... 3 days from Montreal to hear (it took from Thursday to Monday to pop it in the mail)

I have a great sense of humor. What I disagree with is calling the person you are going to marry names like dumbass. It's not funny in ANY context. I can not fathom using that term or any other derogitory name on my fiancee for any reason.

There seems to be no news yet; hopefully this just means that there just aren't many VJ Feb. Packet filers (or many Feb. filers at all), and not that Montreal is slowing down yet more! lol Or maybe they haven't received their interview notices in the mail yet...

I called again today-they still haven't finished scheduling.

Nice to see we're not alone in this mess...just thought we're new here, but not new to this whole process, so I'd thought I'd chime in.
Just called NVC today (haven't gotten ahold of Montreal yet...besides they always seem to be nice at the NVC). The lady there on Monday said they were still filling appts for July. However, today I called and it shows they are done w/July...bummer . We got our case approved back on April 2nd...hopefully it will happen in August.

Has anyone else with an case approval date close to April 2nd had their appointment set yet???
