Guess it's time to push Congressman's or Senator's or someone's buttons. We need to get out of here soon. Long story made short - our residence in Canada is contingent on B's grad student status, and he is done - so there is also Immigration Canada to worry about (though I doubt they will knock on our door and kick us out -I assume they are busier with catching bad people than with foreign students staying a little longer). Our permits to stay in Canada are good till march 2008, but what can I tell you about staying longer than needed? We want to go home Anyways. This sucks. Really sucks. Not happy. At all.

Ok so I emailed Montreal IV today to inquire if an interview was scheduled and was told not yet and that it might be booked in the next 1-3 months.

So for those sending in their packet 3's now, their 5-7 month estimate is about right.... Hopefully they wont get any more backlogged.

I e-mailed Montreal last Wednesday asking if an interview had been set up (I wasn't actaully expecting that to be the case) and, if not, for a possible estimate as to how much longer we would be waiting. This is the response I got today:

"Hi, you are on the waiting list. Your interview will be booked by August
or September"

So, really, our "Montreal Quote of the Day" fits in pretty much with what Brian and I were predicting based on the timelines here.

Finally good news from Montreal. Our interview date is June 19 8:30

Ok so Im home and the dates as of today May 24 , for those having reached Montreal and gotten P3, are ready!!!

Just an update .. I called Montreal today and surprisingly I had a very nice lady answer the phone .. she told me that the interview had not yet been scheduled but should be done very soon and that I was more than welcome to call once a week to check. She said that they don't get cancellations very often ..people just don't show up.

I hear you - the last couple of times I've called they have been quite polite . And good to know that one can call once a week and no blacklisting happens!!!
I can't believe people just don't show up.... man, after the whole enchilada of going through the motions, unless you have a good excuse (like our neiks giving birth), I just can't imagine why on earth people would "just don't show up"!!!!

They probably don't show up if their relationship went down the tubes or if they never got their interview letter. Can you imagine going through this without VJ? We'd all be totally lost and never know when we'd expect a letter!

And she rescheduled; she didn't just not show up! ;-)

It still doesn't work for me. I have word but when I click on the link, it brings me to a page on VJ that says a board error occurred and I am not logged in...when I am logged in!

I seem to be having some trouble viewing the list. When I view it here on VJ the list starts at fg & ss and ends at David & Monique yet if I copy and paste to Microsoft Excel it starts at fg & ss then ends at Katie & Allen which is an additional 9 people. Can you tell me if there should be more than 54 people on the list since it did seem to be longer in the past.

Yes there seems to have been some communication skill seminars given at Montreal the past couple of weeks The last few responses I've gotten from them have been very decent and polite. A huge change from previous correspondence to Montreal

Hi Everyone,

I emailed Montreal today to make sure that they had received my Packet 3 - AND to sneak in a question about potential interview dates! They received my packet on May 11th and the reply to the interview question was "You are currently on a waiting list to be scheduled an appointment. Unfortunately I cannot tell you what
the date would be but please allow 3 - 4 months." Surprisingly polite - potentially completely inaccurate but I'm holding onto whatever bits of hope I can that the interview will happen sooner rather than later.

Optimistic? Crazy? Whatever gets you through the night!!

Fingers crossed for everyone else who is waiting as well...

I do think that with MTL no longer processing any other type of visa but our types (K, DCF, CR/IR) things should go relatively quickly for us waiting for a summer interview. This last month was the most interviews I saw being assigned. So there, you are not crazy!!! My thoughts are that MTL got really screwed with the Adam Walsh thing as we all did, and they are trying to get rid of the backlog.... there's to show that there should be more than one post for processing immigrant visas in Canada!!!!!

And yup, they're being quite polite to inquiries lately.

Called MTL on Wednesday, we got our visa interview!

They got my package Jan 18th and my interview was scheduled on May 22nd (the day before I called, ironically enough), our date is July 5th. I got the package in the mail today.

I'm glad I have a few weeks before I need to start panicking. We should set up a support group for those of us who have interviews the same day so we can defuse together after we survive the interviews!

I've been off VJ for a while, because I was just waiting ... and waiting ... and-- well, everyone hear knows that state intimately. Is the timeline list now a document instead of a post? Have I missed anything exciting?

I'm so happy we finally got our date! Wahee!
