Sorry to hear that....This leaves me wondering several things:
1. Are they scheduling daily now? they used to do it on the 15th of each month...
2.- Is there any difference between K visas and CR-1's when it comes to scheduling?
3.- Any difference between cases that went through NVC and the DCF'ers?????
Wisdom, anyone?????

Different scheduling with K visas and CR-1/IR-1 visas. K visas are scheduled by the consulate. I suppose DCF is the same as Ks since they don't go through USCIS or NVC.
CR-1/IR-1s are scheduled through the NVC with the consulate (15th of each month).

Allrighty then... there is a difference then - does that mean I should call past the 15th of this month (I am DCF, hence CR-1) to ask about my case?

Don't DCF's get scheduled by the consulate (even though they are cr-1 or ir-1???)

Just a note for the DCF filers - I filed in June 2006 in Calgary and received my visa in February 2007 - total of 8 months (and slightly before the Adam Walsh fiasco - hopefully this hasn't slowed down the process any). I think I got dropped from this timeline because it was taking so long, but you can see how my case went if you search in 'Immigration Timelines' under nancy/alex - tried to keep it as up to date as possible - I know I was checking this website daily while the visa was being processed and found it the best source of information on how long others were taking. I never posted after I was approved by Montreal, but Canada Post managed to lose my ExpressPost envelope for a few days (so don't book immediate travel plans once you're approved, I ended up cancelling mine when I thought I'd get my passport/visa in 2 business days when it actually took a week). And once I got here it took two trips to the Social Security office and a reapplication to get my SSN (for a total of six weeks from entry before I could get a drivers license/open a bank account/get a job, etc).
Anyways, good luck to all!

June 1st. FINALLY!!!! Almost six months waiting for the Consulate in Montreal after waiting 8 months in the United States after the IMBRA crap. Sheeeesh. Hard to believe it's been going on for over a year now! Let's get this stuff done and over with!

My visa application was completed yesterday, May 10. What's the current wait time right now for getting notification of my interview in Montreal? Also, how far ahead are the interview times? I've been going at this now for almost 2 years.
Maybe I should ask this......is getting the interview date the next thing to happen and it's just a continuation of the waiting game or will there be yet more stuff to fill out? I've been reading about a packet 3 that sounds like still has to be mailed to me before I get an interview date.

I just emailed Montreal, asking about the expiry date on the I-797 and a possible month for an interview. Hopefully I get something useful back. It'll at least help give the rest of you, waiting longer then me, an idea when you might get one.

I just got an email from Montreal, all it is, is what I sent them, no reply on anything. Is this just a notice to let me know they recieved my email? Or did they just not bother to answer me?
Sorry, I see their answers *sigh* same font as I used, they will exclude my daughter, yes the I-797 will still be valid, and in regards to length of time till interview 4-6 months still.

Yes that's sometimes how they reply all depends whether you get the reply from the rude ignorant people or the very few decent people working there
I've received replys from them with just a NO and nothing else in the reply

I forgot to post that our case was completed at NVC on 4/3/07. the hubby hasn't gotten anything from Montreal-is it time to worry yet? I'm heading north next week, whoo hoo 2 months at home. We were hoping that he'd be able to come back with me at the end of the summer, but now that's not looking likely.

Also, I tried to check case status online and it can't find the number. but when I call the NVC automated response it found it an confirmed that the case is completed. I was a little worried about that because of the 3 duplicate REFs I got on the I864. Anyway, how do I check how the processing is going in MTL without going through the online system?

I called MTL ~10 days ago and was told that i may be a june/July-er for the interview.
Two days, later i emailed them posing the question of what happens to my NOA2 that will expire in the nect 10 days-- no reply from MTL.
Two ago, I emailed MTL again asking of the soon expiring NOA2-- still no reply.
Thought of calling today, but then decided to hold off for another day or two.

Hello folks,
My Congressional aide just emailed me after having FINALLY gotten someone in Montreal to answer her requests. THis is her reply to the inquiry:
Alan,
I finally got a response from the Embassy. I hate to tell you this but your case probably will not be ready for interview until late summer...maybe late July. The reason you were given such bad information is because the computer couldn't "see" the number of pending cases. The estimate is based on past cases and the rate of processing. So...the Embassy had a 4 months backlog in December but now a six month backlog. Interviews are only scheduled a month at a time because the system is unable to do it any other way. I'm so sorry I couldn't give you better information. The reason that your case might be taking longer than others is based on when the Embassy actually gets the case, not when it is first put into the system. I don't know if any of that information actually helped you...at least the paperwork isn't lost somewhere!!! Tell Sharon I'm so sorry I couldn't give you better news.
EOM
Well, there may be SOME upside to it. THey DO have the case, it IS in the system, they just don't know what the hell is goiing on because evidently, no one there knows how to work a computer. It's no wonder the US runs out of Work Visas for highly educated applicants in under a week. Evidently, we NEED them. Oh well

HorsePucky!!!!!
Cases received after yours are receiving interviews. Cases having sent P3 back to them after you have gotten interviews. Montreal's explanation doesn't fit the data we see in front of us.....theyre just blowing smoke up your Rep's azz trying to sound like they have some kind of acceptable, logical procedure for deciding who gets what interview and when. They dropped the ball!!!
Im sorry your news wasn't positive.......I truly am
Lance27
May 15 2007, 08:46 PM
Wow if they had a 4 month backlog in dec then they should just send out a letter saying that we can expect an interview in 4 months and not 2-4 months... and they get mad at us calling/emailing them constantly after the 2 months are up. They have only themselves to blame.

WTF is going on with these people at the embassy?????? Our NOA2 was 1 days after you, and I sent back my checklist like 2 weeks before you. You should have been here by now !!!!!

I mean it is so not fair that you guys arent getting a date before July!!!!

Mine was beginning of April, this means almost 4 months later, and we are now talking about a 8 months backlog, not 6!!! What happened to the embassy ????

I'm really pissed for you guys. I dont get it. Really. And I'm also pissed about Bowflex and mrsserendipidity situation.

Just called Montreal (only took a minute or less to get through) and since we have been in the cue for only one month we still have a three to five months of waiting time. I was told they are at a four to six month waiting time. So it is looking like mid July to mid September for us.

I think it's a pretty well established fact that the consulate, for the most part, bases things on the receipt date of the checklist/Packet 3.
Once again... I stress "for the most part". We all know that they never play by their own rules and often people get left behind in line for no good reason.
