Man, seeing all these numbers fly by: 2-4, 4-5, 5-6 is making me nausiated... lol I get excited to hear the 4 month time frame, but then see the 6 month time frame and my heart sinks to my stomach. Such a rollercoaster of emotions! I'm praying for 5 months! I would be happy with that!

LOL... I know... when I got my packet 3 it said 2-4 months and I was hoping for 2 months now I'm thinking I would be lucky if I got it in 5 months.

Finally saw someone's timeline who submited their packet 3 back to montreal Dec 19 2006 get scheduled for an interview May 1, 2007.... so hopefuly there will be more December packet3 interviews scheduled for May.

That does sound a bit promising, hopefully May. Who's timeline was it?

If your petition was approved for an I-130 immigrant visa the file will be processed at the National Visa Center (NVC) in Portsmouth, NH and only sent to us once the interview is scheduled. Their telephone number is 603-334-0700.


If you approval was for an I-129 K petition, the processing time is currently 8 – 12 months.

Hi, the date that I returned my Packet 3 is wrong since I haven't yet returned 1/12/07 is th date I recieved packet 3 from the consulate.
This part is a rant
I am doing the big thing with the RCMP and I just called the consulate since petition expired on the 7th of this month and told them I was waiting for the RCMP docs and that I wasn't added to thier system until a month after I sent it to them and a month after they got it, the consulate said I should recieve everything from the RCMP by August. They were told that getting background checks will take up to 6 months

They look like they are recently updated. And they say nothing near the 8-12 month time frame...

I know... it's almost like they pull two numbers out the hat every week and that's the wait time they tell everyone.

How long after your NOA2 does it usually take to actually have a REAL interview date set up?

Keep in mind that while the K1/K3 Visas are *technically* non-immigrant Visas... the consulate treats them more like immigrant Visas.. The wait times listed on those sites do not apply to us.

Regardless, I wouldn't put too much stock into the 8-12 month quote. Montreal likes to change its wait time on a daily (if not hourly) basis. Watching the timelines here on VJ will give you a much more accurate guess at how quickly/slowly they are operating.

I got so riled up about the possible 6-12 month wait time, I just emailed them (kindly) to find out what they say lol...

It's been more than 12 months (going for 13 months) for me, from the date the USCIS received the first papers to the interview date (which is tomorrow).

Didn't receive any RFE except from IMBRA that pretty much everyone in March received...

When you guys have written Montreal about timeframes by email, how many days on average does it usually take for them to get back to you?

It is an average of two days, but sometimes they just don't answer at all, I dont know if it is because they dont have anything to say, so they say nothing.. or what.

I usually get something, but it is always very brief..

I've e-mailed Montreal three times since our petition headed their way. Once I had no answer at all and the other two times I heard back within an hour. I must have lucked out and e-mailed right when someone was going through their inbox

Yeah, I emailed on the 10th, but haven't heard back yet. I guess if I don't hear by the 17th, I'll try again.

I'm going stir-crazy over here as Jon just returned to Toronto last night after a week-long visit. Since there really haven't been a ton of updates for May interviews -- except Charmie's whose profile I can't find -- I decided to bite the bullet and call. So I called, pressed 4, and immediately a woman picked up and said, "While I can't tell you for sure when the interview will be, we're nearly to your date (January 17th) so I'd expected a late May interview and a three-week notification window. Early June at the latest."

I never thought I'd be happy to hear late May, early June!

So I hope that's pretty accurate and that all of you with December system dates get notification in the next few days!

Awesome news, I can start hoping for Late June early July now

After being told I would most likely get my certificate from the RCMP in August by the Consulate, I received it on Friday the 13th. I will be calling the Consulate and telling them I now have everything they require so I can be added to the interview waiting list.
Congratulations to those that have their date and Godd speed for those still anxiously waiting.

Did the consulate mark you down as having sent in your packet 3 at an earlier date?

Exciting week this week! Cutienperg and Riblet both have interviews!

It took 55 days from the time they entered me into their system which was about 3 weeks after they actually recieved it I express mailed in mid January and was entered in the system on February 18 for a total of proximately 76 days. The RCMP site said 120+ days and when our NOA2 expired on April 7th I called the Consulate and told them I wasn't yet ready and why, they said 6 months according to information they recieved from the RCMP and I should expect the certificate in August. The biggest surprise was what the certificate said " This certifies that a search of the national criminal reords repository maintained by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) concerning the person whose fingerprints, name and date of birth appear above could not be associated to any existing criminal record of conviction which may be diclosed in accordance with Federal laws." To some that would mean I don't have a criminal record when in fact it means I have one but since I was pardoned they under the law cannot disclose it, which means as per the Consulate I need a copy of my pardon and a copy of the court documents which I will have in my hands in two weeks.

As you can see from the following I was entered in the system on March 19, but a subsequent call a few weeks later to the Consulate and a conversation with evil one a.k.a the ###### of Montreal who accused me of trying to get on the list without having everything got me knocked off and told to call when I had it all together. So to answer you yes I was on the list for a short while and will be back on it as of tomorrow.

I'm excited in a sick to my stomach oh my god I know it's all gonna go wrong then I'm gonna be forced to move to Canada and abandon my older children give my house to the bank cuz the market is so bad i cant sell it<big breath> kinda way.

I'm starting to feel nervous about not going to the interview. My husband's 19 yr old daughter has said she would go to Montreal with him and they're gonna do the town. Good chance for them to spend some good ole " dad and me " time. I don't want to interfere as i will have him all to myself from here on out and she wont......but I'm still feeling guilty .....like Ive thrown him to the wolves.

He's sick with worry that he'll make a mistake and I'll kill him ......have him cloned and kill the clones. Probably because that's what I told him I'd do.....
.......see the thing is ......when he was home last , I was going over the paperwork with him, showing him what forms are what etc etc .....and in the middle of it all he simply walked out of the room with me mid sentence. That kinda went over......well can we say ......BADLY! He came back in and we started again ......he walked out AGAIN. After I put my face back together and put out the flames , I explained to him that in no uncertain terms would I move to Canada if he screwed up this interview due to lack of paying attention. He's always had in the back of his mind " oh no big deal , if we don't get the visa , she can move here". Which between you guys, me and the 4 walls .......i would......but he cant know that, not right now. He NEEDS to be serious about this.
I'd really rather have my children finish school here. I have 2 in college, 1 in grade 11 another in 7th and the youngest in 5th. The 11th grader cannot go to Canada and finish high school and I wont leave her behind. It doesn't make sense to me to have my youngest children educated in Canada when the US is where they will live their lives. I have a house that likely wont sell quickly in this depressed market both in Michigan and locally. I have an aged mother who recently had a stroke and is in a nursing home who needs us nearby. Bottom line is those are all preferences i would like to have met......not carved in stone demands. My primary preference is to live with my husband.....PERIOD!
I think I impressed in his mind how important this is and he needs to get on board......but by doing so I scared the beejezus outta him.

ANYway.....it'll probably be a game time decision and I'll hop on a train and rush to Montreal Wednesday

Hee Hee! This just gave me a huge flashback to the days before our interview. I'm quizzing my husband and he's running out of the apartment for another cigarette -- I'm like, "can you just focus for a few seconds here??" -- he's like, "I wanna go home!!" -- hilarity ensues . . . O.M.G. it was going to be pistols at dawn between the two of us.

These guys (at the Consulate) are like contractors (the ones who work on your house). They leave your house ripped wide open, wind and rain howling through the place -- don't bother calling them, because they're on vacation. In the meantime, you're cursing them right and left -- BUT! When it's all over, you're ready to hug them.
