http://montreal.usconsulate.gov/content/co...;document=indexThat's lame. Our letter says $100 on it. They shouldn't be sending out letters that don't reflect the updated price.

Just wondering for those of you that wrote down your tracking number for your XpressPost envelope... how long after your interview did you notice that Montreal had sent your passport?... today is only the 2nd "business" day after my husbands interview (Jan 25th) and Canada Post shows nothing sent as of tonight.. Just wanting to get it in our hands so we can finalize moving plans...

Today I followed a friends advice and finally emailed Montreal just to 'check the status & make sure they received my Packet 3'-even though I KNEW I would get no reply except the automated:
Dear MONTREAL CONSULATE GENERAL:
My lawyer sent back his packet 3 information on January 29, 2008, on behalf of (my fiance). I wanted to confirm receipt of his Packet 3 information as we have had problems in the past with mailing in Canada. Thank you so much for your time.
Sincerely,
(my fiance & me)
Of course, I got the typical automated reply. BUT, less than two hours later, I got this:
YES WE DID RECEIVE IT YOU SHOULD BE REVEIVING AN APPOINTMENT IN APRIL OR MAY
Thats it, no opening, no closing-but an IDEA of WHEN we may possibly get an interview. I am very excited-at the same time, a little sad because I was secretly hoping for a miracle interview earlier! HAHA-maybe our 'miracle' will be an early April appointment? We WILL SEE!

Wow - so lately its been 3-4 months instead of 6???
We just sent our Packet 3 back the other day.
I *hope*, really really really hope, that this works out well. If we get an interview in July it will be a few months before Mary moves, and she cant move sooner because of a wedding in August we have to go to.
I hope its not before that because we have a ton of planning here to do

According to Liz's spreadsheet it is taking about 2 months from packet three being sent back to interview - so you should be thinking she will receive her visa/interview in the 2-3 month time frame from now.
She has 6 months to use the visa, so that should work for you?

Well if they get it Monday .... 3 months from that date is June 3rd ....
That is 3 months before we wanted to move ... and then we'd have 45 days or so before the wedding.
So its perfect timing - she had just hoped to visit in June and July to do more planning for the wedding. It's so hard to plan a wedding 600 miles away

MTL just wrote back saying most likely 4 months. So July.

We've finally sent off our P3 to Montreal. Woohoo! It is scheduled to arrive at the consulate by 10.30 tomorrow morning. If I were to email Montreal tomorrow, do you think I'd know if I've been put in line for an interview, or is that way too soon to expect them to give me an answer?
liz_legend 'n Ol
Mar 13 2008, 05:15 PM
I'd wait at least a week..
they'll only get it tomorrow
doesn't mean it'll get opened tomorrow.
in reality.. you should wait a min of 2-3 weeks
rae_and_scott
Mar 13 2008, 05:21 PM
Sound advice, thank you! I know I have to be *patient* now. Just so happy to finally have that thing on its way!

edit:
ooh, look at that, we are no longer grey on the spreadsheet! And I see we automatically are given a future date as having entered the waiting list. I was wondering how people got those dates, but I guess it's just an auto guess kinda thing?
liz_legend 'n Ol
Mar 13 2008, 05:33 PM
ya.. I noticed that on average it takes about 6 days for them to enter you into their computer...
so everyone gets six days added to the date they mailed it in... =)
you got peach for your color! =) hope you like it cuz you'll be looking at it for a few weeks!
rae_and_scott
Mar 13 2008, 05:37 PM
I love it! Better than being what felt like in limbo in that grey area.

And I hope you are right. I hope it's a few weeks rather than months. It would be great if it only took 2 months, as some of the recent ones have been taking. Thank you again so much for doing the spreadsheet! It's the only indication I feel I have to hope for 2 months rather than longer.
