Probably the same with Kristy and I. Looks like we'll be moving on Monday and getting married on Tuesday. Probably at the location in the picture in my signature, as that is literally steps from doorway.

I was lucky, after the wedding, I went to apply for my social security number. At first the lady said after my perm residence status was adjusted I was to go back and get the non working code off of my number. By the time we left, *I guess we made an impression* she said I could start working right away.

Not sure if she was mistaken, a few days later I went back to pick up the number. I was greeted by another nice lady in training. She verified there wasn't a non working code attached to my number and I was free to work right away.

This shows me some do overlook red tape maybe because it is a small town and they do see a face.

Good luck good.gif

Hey everyone!

I've been around for a while now, we applied for a K1, but canceled the app because of situation changes (I got wooed into a grad program with money and opportunities I couldn't turn down). Now we are married are getting ready to file a K3. Like a lot of Canadians, I'll be going through MTL. Am I seeing things as far as times at Montreal are concerned? When we filed our K1, they were at 2-4 months, when I checked in on times a couple months ago, they were at 6 months (I think). Am I seeing things right that they are now back a gleeful couple of months? Or is there some other step that has been added and the over-all time is still the same? I was so excited to see the time changes, since they are great for everyone, but I want to make sure before I get all excited. (On the other hand, I've also noticed VSC times are way up...win some, lose some, right?)

Hello Jess,

It is hard to predict. Have you clicked on Liz's signature spreadsheet?
She has meticulously kept track of only Montreal Consulate timelines.

I am at my turn for awaiting an interview...yes I have even begged them to see me before the end of the year.
I am not holding my breath though...but I have asked the universe to bend for me.
Future father-in-law is dying on us and I would love to get there ASAP and pour love and healing all over him.
This whole thing has made me extremely, uhm, there are no words to describe.

I hope for you things go smoothly, and you may notice that nothing seems to make sense... as far as timelines are concerned, let alone some other things.

No news yet for us K3's either (Toronto/NewYork and myself)... *sigh*...would love to have the interview done by end of year but it looks like they are going to hold to their 4 to 6 month timeline for us which means we may not hear anything until Jan/Feb *sigh again* wacko.gif

I see two couple have been waiting 70 days to get an appointment....not an interview, just the appointment.
Why why why why why why do they make you wait for the appointment?
Why do they not simply make one right away even if it will be 4 months so that one can plan their lives accordingly?
How long is the typical wait once you hear you have an appointment to to interview? a day or two??

sigh....

Yeah I have always wondered about that, it would seem to make sense to let people know when they will be interviewed, how hard can that be?

A. It would make people shut up about it (I'm talking about me here smile.gif )

B. People could plan

C. Montreal would look good-ish
trailmix
Which reminds me of the lame response I got to my letter, which I will now post. Just a note, I never 'objected' to anything, I just said I was 'surprised' that there was only 1 consulate in this vast country where interviews are held.

As you can see I had to edit out a few lines which refer to my Husband's file in particular.

Actually, it's harder than you think. All official US correspondence is now processed through the mainframe in a small town outside of Washington, I believe the place is called Menda City. smile.gif

So people just use the word "bump" to bring the thread to the top rose.gif wink.gif

So, I got my NOA2 yesterday!! I am so excited. It was a rather long wait.

Any idea how long until I (or I guess, my SO in Canada? or our lawyer? who exactly does it go to?) receive packet 3? I know it first has to travel from VSC to NVC before it reaches Montreal, but VSC is pretty quick, so any idea what I can expect?

I want to hurry up already so I can wait for the interview! lol.

Congrats on your NOA2!!!
By the K1 Flowchart it says that it can take a few weeks for VSC to send it to NVC and then 1 to 4 weeks from there for your case to be forwarded to Montreal.

Best of luck! smile.gif

And once it reaches the Montreal embassy, do you happen to know how prompt they are in sending out packet 3? I guess I was wondering since they are so slow to give interview dates, if they are slow in this step too.
Any idea who will receive it (me: the USC, my SO: the Canadian, or our lawyer?
