Is Hotel La Tour Centre Ville the one right across from the Consulate?
Mary
It is the one right across the street but if you are looking for a nicer experience then you may want to look at some other options. They Hyatt looked pretty nice and is only a block away.

Liz, it seems to me that not knowing is the most stressful part of the experience. How many people have been refused a visa at MTL? Just one (sorry Ron) and he's going to get in soon.

Laughter is the best way to relieve stress, so it looks like I'll have to redouble my efforts and tighten my Borscht belt.
Len are you a meteorologist, 'cuz for some reason you keep giving out the Heatherforecast.
BTW, I agree with you Liz, a day-glo orange shower curtain with a paisley pattern isn't my first choice either.

Well we are the chosen ones for a reason, but the good thing in all of this is that we are the only ones so lets just keep it that way, we are in no need nor do we want to have company. For getting it soon that is our wish, dream and part of the nightly prayer. The best part of this is that we continue to grow stronger together with every passing day and we always look forward to tomorrow for tomorrow may be the day that we get the COME ON DOWN call from Montreal.

It's actually funny how far apart Montreal and Toronto are, when people speak of them they talk like they are next door

I hope your cousin does drop you off, at least you will have someone to talk to to calm ye ole nerves.

Liz another update for the spreadsheet when you get the chance.. Willstar was approved on Nov 1st..heres their review posted in their timeline:
Consulate Review: Montreal, Canada
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : November 4, 2007
Embassy Review : Arrived at 7:10am for an 8:15 appt. - we were 5th in line so rec'd the letter E and when the doors opened at 7:30 those of us with letters A-E were processed through security and personally taken upstairs first. We all went to a window to hand in our paperwork then sat in the waiting area to be called back in order. During this time, more folks came up the elevator and began to form a line at the cashier - this was confusing as our group had to get in the back of this line as we were processed and then told to pay at the cashier. Howeever, once the cashier opened the line moved pretty quickly as most folks in the line were then told where to go for their particular need. By 9am we had paid our money, been fully processed and went in to see the final consular officer who asked the big question of "where did you meet" and then told us everything was OK and the visa will come next week in the mail. Out the front doors by 9:10am!!!
Rating : Very Good
Congrats to them!!

Thank you. Your spreadsheet almost made me cry. I'm waiting for my NOA2 from Vermont (we submitted in June) and I've been bracing myself for an additional 6 month wait for my interview in Montreal, since that was the consensus of how long it took when I checked the Canada forum back in June. I just came back and now your spreadsheet is saying that it's only a 3 month wait, maybe even shorter? Thank you!

I'm in the same boat: waiting for my NOA2 from Vermont (filed in July), which was supposed to take less time than it is, and thinking I'd have an additional 5-6 months waiting on Montreal. It would be simly fantastic if the wait were more like 3 months, and this spreadsheet really gives me hope! Thank you so much. I can't wait to be added to it too.

Thank you Liz for adding us to your list.
It feels good to be there, although awaiting our lawyer's approval and a few questions I had to send the package I completed on SUNDAY!!!!
Fergoddddssssakes, what IS she doing with it?
Ahem, please excuse my impatience.
Hahaha.
And please forgive my next question:
Why do they make couples wait to get an interview date?
How long have people waited to get a date?
I see two couples there around 50 days or so...
How logical is it to make people wait to get a date?
Give the date and we can plan our time until then, damn them!!!
I have places to go, people to see!!

Okay.
I'm okay now...the outbursts are great therapy.

A lot of us had to wait a long time for our interviews. I started this whole process back in October 2006. When I was at my interview, the woman giving me the interview had told me my case had expired on October 17th 2007!!(interview was Oct 24th 07) but that they had extended it to the 24th because it had already been over a year. I'm just glad that part is over and I'm also happy that MTL is moving along with everyone else faster now.

Please forgive me and my A.D.D.

as I tried to find these answers and couldn't:
1. The Montreal U.S. Consulate takes its time to give you the interview date, and then the date is soon after you receive the letter?
2. This letter is a.k.a. "packet 4"?
3. I see 2 couples have been waiting just over 50 days to get their interview scheduled. How common is it for Montreal U.S. Consulate to not mail the letter and people have only found out by calling or emailing?
I see that they have been taking less time than they did for all the approved-in-the-Spring couples....still way longer than Vancouver...grrrrrr.
Thanks for any help.

1.Yes MTL can take their time giving you a date for the interview, but not always do they give you next to no notice for the interview.
2. Yep. Interview letter is in Pkt 4.
3. There have been a few cases where no one got a letter. They called/emailed and found out that they did indeed have an interview scheduled. Now, you can't even email them. They have some stupid automatic thingy that emails you back.
Hope this helps you with your questions.
