This is just an unloading of mind clutter because I'm bored and boredom brings the worse out of me so here goes.

Why do the better writers here not get together and draft a letter to the consulate requesting information on their status. This letter should be posted here and everyone waiting for an interview date cut and paste and then on the very same day over a period of time choose a time to send it and everyone send it to Montreal at the same time and on the same day. I think Montreal would get the idea that there is a group out here looking at what they are doing there. Everyone says that Big brother is watching, so, why not let them know that little brothers and sisters are watching also.

This way no-one will feel to send something one day and another on another day, it would be a kind of reverse spamming, not one address sending to many addresses but many addresses sending to one address.

If anyone thinks of doing something like the above you all better think of the consequences it could come back and bite you in the AS$.
liz_legend 'n Ol
I'd email again on Friday or Monday..

You'll get a date set in the next couple of days.. don't worry.

think of it like you're just soaking in all those hours at work to make the most out of your EI claim!

What was important to us at the time was on a personal level, it was time that wasn't available to us to be here with the equally important people that have supported us without know us. What we did was necessary, being here with people like you is nothing less that a real pleasure.

That is indeed a bad idea. Where did you read that Ron? Was it in the Canada forum somewhere? If that was to be done, I am almost sure most people who sent said letter would get on MTL's bad side.

That is why I wrote the first and last sentences.
1. This is just an unloading of mind clutter because I'm bored and boredom brings the worse out of me so here goes.
2. If anyone thinks of doing something like the above you all better think of the consequences it could come back and bite you in the AS$.

It came from seeing "I e-mailed last week who will e-mail today" I really didn't think anyone would actually do what I wrote because it would have needed the cooperation of everyone and I knew that brighter minds would see how things could turn out.

You're pissed? Us CR1s are pissed. I've been waiting since April.

I am SOOOO PISSED! mad.gif MTL responded to Doug today: "no date yet; we already told you it would probably be December"!! We're on the list 2 wks earlier than Liz, sigh.

Think we pissed off the wrong guy at MTL and he delayed us? wacko.gif blink.gif

In any event, I'm back down on the MTL roller coaster ride....now I have to wait another 2 weeks at least to check again crying.gif

Finally got my interview letter in the mail, dated Sept 14! But with the same interview date and time they told me back in August. Less than a month now... smile.gif

Hi Ron,

I understand, it's kind of one of those 'wouldn't it be good if we could' scenarios. Immigration is a funny thing. Because they have all this power to make decisions people back off from confronting them (with good reason, as you mention).

In the normal world no one would put up with this kind of treatment - it's all wacky!

Someone I know freezes up every time they cross the border. When the guy asked, "where are you going?" he said 'Canada' (heading in to Canada). haha

TIME OUT!

Let's not turn things here into a CR-1 vs K1 vs etc. thing and focus on the bigger picture... which is that Montreal sucks the big one! tongue.gif

If I had to hazard a guess (for the CR-1s), Montreal has a certain amount of slots alloted for DCF, CR-1, IR-1 in one group and K1 and K3 in another group. Due to the poor implementation of the Adam Walsh act, there was a big backlog of DCFs so I'm guessing they're clearing those each month and then whatever they have left over they give to the NVC for CR-1s and IR-1s. Pure speculation on my part of course.

Is it fair? Nope, not at all...

Hugs to you both, L.

Thanks Len....every time I write, they send me a "we already told you" kinda email; I worry about bugging them too much, BUT....are they answering phones again perhaps?

Thanks for the vote of confidence, too Liz....I sure hope you're right! blush.gif

Your friend needs to remember that the border officers have rules and regulations that allow them to go so far and no further. They are there to intimidate and are obviously doing a good job in your friends case, but they (the someone you know) has to learn to quiet down and listen and give the right answer to their questions.
Having spent damned near a life time working in the government I have very little fear of their power over me. Someone once said that the only power someone has over you is the power you give them, in my case I question them on all points they set before me. my last letter to them ended with "don't bother replying since any response will only make you look foolish" obviously they saw the truth in that as they didn't reply. I'll tell you one thing when I go back there my file will have inreased in size.

Sorry am a bit late but Tinker Congrats on your interview , and to everyone who got a date congrats cant waite till its my turn ,

Sorry I must have skipped your post, Liz.

Don't be sorry, we're insanely jealous, feeling left behind. We want to be celebrating too.

I think I speak for all of the CR1s when I say that I really am happy for you, I'm happy to hear that Montreal actually works, they haven't been sleeping and slacking off for half a year, but it's just kind of a sour lemon kinda happiness.
trailmix
Well I emailed them and asked how the interviews are done, are they first come first served, do K persons get interviews before IR persons etc etc.

And the reply I got really had nothing to do with the questions I asked - yeah I know you are all surprised huh.gif

They answered me within 40 minutes. Anyway I have emailed again restating my original question, will let you know if they ever write back. smile.gif

Thanks Trailmix!

I totally feel the same way, djc...and didn't mean to insinuate a contest....I hate that you guys are at the bottom of the barrel; it's deep enough without having to be at the bottom!! I agree with DJC, I'm really happy for all the K1/K3 folks who are getting their interviews. It does cheer me to know that even though the embassy is insanely slow, they are doing *something* to reunite families. I love hearing about K-visa folks who are so happy and excited to be moving down here! (I hope that the embassy will remember CR1/IR1 folks who are also waiting.) I think that we are all frustrated with the embassy for letting the wait times get so out of hand, and I wonder if there is something that all of us can do together to try and change how Montreal is doing their visas so that ALL families are reunited quickly.

Wellll it looks like they aren't going to reply to my second email - again much surprise. My first email was short and to the point - with the bottom line being:

"I am wondering if you can clarify for us how the interviews are booked, is it purely on a first come first served basis, regardless of the type of visa?"

This was the reply:

The National Visa Center schedules the appointment for you as your case isn’t at our office.

K1s are scheduled by us only when their case is complete. You may call NVC at 603-334-0700.

Thank you

It is to laugh, I mean really laughing.gif

I'm scandalized by their use of wit and brevity. The classic red-tape non-answer answer.
I just got off the phone at the NVC, they told me to talk to the embassy. huh.gif

NVC sets the datesfor Mtl (as u know for cr-1/ir-1) just another clue less operator.

You're right Flames, I knew that but she did not. I find it funny when we know more about the process than the folks who are helping us through it.

She probably said that because Montreal tells NVC how many interviews they can accomodate and NVC schedules that many in. It's no help to us that Montreal apparently tells NVC that there are NO interviews to be had...

We should start emailing Montreal.
flames9
Montreal has no clue that you even exist until NVC sets the schedule for cr-1/ir-1

back in June met a govt fellow at a family function. he was hoping to get the top consulate position in vancouver!! Didn't have the nerve to ask him any immigration stuff, lol

I agree DJC. Once I get done at the NVC, I'm going to have an email all set up to send one email a day. devil.gif And after waiting for 4 months, I'll start getting my senator and US rep involved.
I'm thinking that the squeaky chain gets oiled and if more of us start to squeak then they have to do something.

liz_legend 'n Ol
Ol got a promotion today! He's now going to be the General Manager of the Faccia Luna in Arlington!!
Flames9, you can stop on by in a few weeks..

He's meeting with the Owners/Presidents of the company as we speak to hash things out!!

Not sure when he officially has to start at the Arlington location yet.

So now I start looking for an apartment for us in ARLINGTON for November!
flames9
I highly recommend the Barton House!! Its super close by and it is awesome!! BUT it is extremely hard to get in!! They do have a waiting list BUT they sort of bypass that if friends recommend you!! I have never officially been told that, bu tI have a very good hunch that it works that way!! We vouched for a friend and she got in. And it may be a bit pricey.Think we paid $1280 a month for a 1 bedroom on top floor facing the Washington Monument. Only .25 cents to wash and .25 cents to dry!! Some places its like $2.00 to wash and another $1 to dry!! Can't say enough good things. Derekkj lives there as well.

I have been to that restaurant once, was back in June. Was good food.
flames9
Excuse my rudeness--------Congrats on the new job

Maybe I'm missing something but it makes sense to me that they wouldn't be able to give a straight answer for that one since NVC schedules interviews for certain visas and they don't. They're probably generally first come, first served for each individual visa type, except K1 and K3 which are probably together. That's my guess anyway smile.gif
