This is a great thread! My fiancee sent her packet 3 checklist in early November! Looks like a lot of the October packet 3 applications already have their interviews scheduled for the end of this month. Anyone hearing anything about Nov.?

Hi Everyone,

We're here in Montreal -- waiting and waiting and waiting. I'm becoming very very good at yoga and my husband keeps running on the treadmill at the gym. Somehow, we'll get through this. I'm incredibly lucky that my work allows me to travel, so we are able to spend this time waiting together. STRESSSSSS. Talk about that! Who know that this would be the worst part? At least when we were all filling out paperwork, we had some ownership over the process. Now, not even stopping by the Consulate for the neighborly cup of sugar will help (I'm not exactly sure yet, I'll let you all know if the "pop-in" helps.)

Well, after four months of waiting, an insane amount of phone calls to the NVC and the National Customer Serive Line, two letters sent to CSC, multiple faxes to the NVC, and several talks with one very helpful woman at Brian's congresswoman's office...

Well what do you know... Brian called the NVC today just to see if we had a case number assigned yet only to be told that our file was shipped off to Montreal today! Talk about speedy

I really didn't think I'd be asking for an update on the list so soon. I know K1s usually zoom right through the NVC, but after waiting four months for something that was only supposed to take 2-4 weeks, I was having trouble being optimistic.

Please add our "Sent to Montreal" date in as Jan 24/07.

I contacted the consulate and they said to expect March or April interview date which I don't understand =(. It looks like a lot of the people who sent their packet 3's in near the end of October got an end of January interview date. Hopefully they're just being conservative on the time =(. Just wanted to help everyone get an idea of when to expect an interview.

I am one of those who submitted in October, and they were telling some of the October Package 3'ers.. February for interview dates, when most of us have recieved Jan dates. I dunno how Christmas holidays affects them at the consulate, maybe they are being conservative because they are facing a backlog? Who knows. I hadn't heard anything about my visa in writing until the week after Christmas, and my interview was scheduled for January 16th. It happens fast when it happens

Nicodemus - I wouldn't necessarily say there's been a lull lately, this list just doesn't move as fast as some other ones because it's still relatively small. Also, it seems like not so much was done over the holidays so I guess maybe we're seeing the effects of that.

I got an answer back from the NVC today and our stuff has been sent to Montreal (lets assume todays date : Jan30). Now that I have a new case number, anybody know where i go from here to check if montreal has received it? is there a montreal phone number?? Help!

Oh, never mind my question, I found the number. Now I'm just on hold to get them to check my case number. I hope its been received.... cross your fingers

Because I'm completely bored this evening . . . I decided to try to work up some of the data we've all collected. I did a histogram of the 12 cases (excluded DCF) for the K-Visas for the time period (in days) between Packet 3 and the Interview. Here is the graph. The data aren't really normally distributed, but it's fun to try to make these predictions, anyway!

Well at least you heard something

They are still alive. I can second that because I sent them 2 e-mails, one on January 10th, and a second one yesterday.

The first was about if my interview was scheduled, received a really short answer saying date not booked as of yet.

Yesterday I sneaked in a question about the NOA2 expiration saying I would like to know if the interview was scheduled before the said date, and all they answered is not to worry they would renew that date automatically.

Thats it.

No date, not even an estimate. They received my checklist and documents on November 23rd.

But at least both times they replied the next day. There is at least someone working on the e-mails department.

It looks like we should be watching CutienPurg and EmilyRugBurn - they should be next, and will hopefully give us an idea of how long things are taking... unfortunately it looks like Montreal may be taking more than 4 months now, but this may be due to the holidays.

I had emailed the consulate back in early January and on January 11th they confirmed that they had received my package 3 and said that I should have an appn't date in March. "Should" being the key word here. By the sounds of this forum ... I'll be lucky if I get it in April. Holy crap my wedding is in May for crying out loud. meh.

Yes, we have. An appointment should be available for March, a letter will be mailed to you 2 to 3 weeks prior your interview date.

Any idea why all the March dates? Earlir in the year they said it would be February. I've noticed that there haven't been any Feb. dates scheduled for anyone, only January and a feeling of March?

I too have emailed the consulate and the responses go from " you'll wait 4 months to hear of an interview" in late Nov. to "possibly a Feb interview " in December to " he is still on a waiting list " in January. If they send a letter 2-3 weeks before the interview , then I am still hopeful for Feb, but that hope is dimming quickly. On Feb 18 they will have had my husband's file for 4 months, we were not tardy in returning the checklist and DS-230........I can't imagine what the holdup could be. When my husband left on Jan 6 , I told him " this will be the last time we have to do this under these circumstances". <sigh>

Are there different timelines for K1 vs. K3? I'm just wondering since no one has gotten a February interview.

Hey everyone, I just spoke to them again and they said verbatim "we are only booking interviews who submitted in August and September". Is there something I am missing here as people have gotten booked from October submissions?

I submitted Package 3 in October, had interview Jan 16.. From what I gather from reading posts and comments.. you have to take their "comments" with a grain of salt. Sometimes they tell you anything cause they don't have an answer. Hang in there!!

My husband got some unexpected leave and he's making the 8 hour drive for the weekend ( 4 dayer).........so much for my Jan 6 prediction.

Ok, since my question is Montreal Interview related, I figure I'll post it here as well. I submitted the DS-230 to the NVC on Jan 29. They have received it now. Assuming that they take two weeks to a month to process both the I-864 and the DS-230, I should have my case completed probably end of February.

Here is my question: Is it true that the NVC assigns me an interview date, and NOT the Montreal consulate? Does anyone in a similar situation (case complete, waiting for interview date per NVC) know? Also, 'assuming' that the NVC assigns us with the Montreal interview date, how do they co-relate as far as interview scheduling is concerned with the Montreal consulate? Do they simultaneously log into a 'system' and start blocking up dates for cases? Can anyone provide some insight?

Yes, the NVC does schedule the appointment.

Apparently Montreal reserves a certain number of appointments each month for IR/CR1 visa interviews, and NVC only schedules the appointments once a month on or around the 15th. So if you want to check if you have an appointment for the following month, you should be able to call the NVC on the 16th or 17th of the month before.

I'm really hoping that our DS230 will be generated on Tuesday of next week, and I will submit it same day (I just received it from Michael today). So we are hoping for early March case complete... although I've recently heard they've changed the standard 2-4 weeks to 4-6 weeks due to backlog from the holidays.

Hi all - just a quick update to let you know that we received a transfer to the Vancouver consulate, so you can delete my timeline from the chart. My entire family is in Alberta and the transfer was straightforward and very easy. We're hoping for a quicker interview date, and hopefully this will free up time in Montreal so you all get through the system more quickly as well. Best of luck to everyone.

Did you transfer it at the Montreal level or the NVC level? My transfer was granted on January 24, but a week later (January 31), Vancouver still didn't receive the hardcopy of the file (they got the electronic data transfer though). So I'm still waiting for packet 3...

Hi Misa - I transferred after the case had been received at Montreal. I'm still waiting for Packet 3 as well. Did you try emailing the Vancouver consulate? I did, just to check and see if they received the transfer. They got back to me in less than a day. I imagine it will take Montreal some time to mail the hard copy -- in the mean time, I was advised to get as much in order for packet 3 as possible.

I'm not sure how long it takes for Montreal to mail the hard copy (how hard is that???) but as of today, Vancouver still doesn't have my hard copy. I have everything in order except the medical because I need the letter in packet 3 today. I'll add you to my friends list and maybe we can check up on each other since we're in the same situation and similar timelines.

I just called the Montreal consulate regarding confirmation if my package 3 was received.
She said it has been received, entered into the system on January 30th and that I am on a waiting list for an interview. Me and everyone else it seems.
She never indicated how long the waiting list is. I am hoping March or April.

Seems like no one has received any February interviews yet.
