I received the letter from the NVC that gave me my new case number. Blah blah.

Will I, the petitioner, receive any sort of notification when the petition is forwarded onto the consulate?

I'm asking as my fiancé a) lives on a farm in the middle of West Nowhere, Alberta, and cool.gif works out of town for weeks at a time. So I basically need to know when I should tell him to start keeping his eyes open for it and arranging for someone to get the mail out of the country mailbox.

No, you will have to call NVC for the date it was sent. You can also email them and they will email back telling you when it was sent.

Thanks! Didn't want to bother someone at the NVC if the standard procedure was to get a letter, and wasn't going to bug some poor f00b at the NVC if that was the case.

Much better to email the NVC with you question as the live bodies give you the standard answers and a different answer everytime u call. Try emailing them NVCInquiry@state.gov Payato

Good to email the NVC to see if your case has shipped out. Even though my case shipped out on the 25th of Oct the same date my letter from the NVC had on it.. The letter had the typical stuff on how it would be shipped out in a week even though it had already left the NVC, and was in the hands of DHL on the 25th evening.

I got a follow up email from the NVC on the 25th with the good news, and then called the NVC and spoke with a live a person to confirm it had left the NVC.

How long does it take to get an e-mail response, on average?

It usually took about 3 or 4 work days to get an answer. I emailed them about 4 or 5 times and always got a response. I also never had a problem calling them at 603-334-0700
