I dunno why I am doubting!! We went to RCMP yesterday and the lady seemed puzzled that we weren't doing fingerprints, and I told her that is only if you have a record..... I was just wondering, we got a halfsheet of paper, it's orange, it looks like anyone could just run a copy of this, is it what we were supposed to get?
She also didn't charge us anything, not complaining on that, but it makes me even more doubtful we got the right thing.

please assure me!!
mercy
That's what mine looks like, no worries! When she handed it to me, I sort of stood there, expecting her to give me a more offical looking certificate, and I asked her if that was all and she said it's what I needed. I didn't pay either smile.gif

Mine is blue, but yeah doesn't look too official that is for sure.

AHH phew, thanks you guys.

Waiting in Vancouver
Mine was a full 8.5" x 11" and it had the official RCMP stamp thingy on the bottom ...

Mine was on white paper and it was titled "Canadian Police Certificate For Visa Applicants/Foreign Travel/Foreign Work Permits". It certified that a search based on me failed to disclose that I had a record of criminal convictions in the national repository for criminal records in Canada. I received two original copies signed & dated by an RCMP Constable. The cost was $35 Cdn.

2 1/2 years ago I got the same thing during a personal visit to the RCMP post in Windsor, Ontario. They did the search while I waited and it cost $25.

Had mine done this summer and yes, it's on orange paper (a little bigger than half sheet size) - very unofficial looking.

Yep they all vary in size, color and fee!! 1 would think the RCMP would have a standard form for all of Canada, but not!!

Mine looked like this as well..and he did the seal on it...only difference he didnt charge me for it. So I didnt argue with that..but it is strange the variation on fee and look. huh.gif

Not that I'm thinking bad thoughts, but it would be darn ez to reproduce this silly thing.
And BTW the hubby had his canadian cash bucks right out on the counter, ready to pay, expecting to pay - and she just said "there you go, 2 copies for you" and didn't charge us. Not that I am complaining, money is tight these days!! But shocking nonetheless.

My husband recently went to the Commissionaires in downtown Toronto and paid about $37.00. Don't know what it looks like. But I suspect the U.S. government runs its own checks on both parties and that's what goes on at the NVC. So, no sense making a counterfeit of an RCMP cert because the FBI check will trump everything later.

Mine is YELLOW- lol

GOt it at the COmmissionaire's office and it just says "Canadian Police Certificate" for EMployment, Visa applicants..... and although I ordered it in Ottawa, it came from Charlottetown, PEI. ?

Obviously there is no "standard", just depends on where you get it.

hi guys!
Can I just mention that I asked them about the police record thing at the consulate this week when i did my k3 interview. I had gotten the fingerprints thing done by the RCMP and I don't have a criminal record and asked her if a name check done by the local police was ok. She said yes. As long as its a nation wide search and it indicates that on the form, that is perfectly acceptable.

I hope that clears up a bit on the whole confusion on the local police or RCMP record thing. smile.gif
