I don't know if this is the right forum for this but here goes...
We just got our NOA2 kicking.gif so can now start and think about the reality of the wedding etc. We don't intend to book anything until the visa is finally approved but are looking into places in New York City that can be booked at relatively short notice for a small number of guests and aren't too expensive. We don't really want to go to City Hall as we've heard it's a bit like a conveyor belt!

I was just wondering if anyone on here had been married in NYC and whether anyone had any suggestions?

Thanks

Sarah

Hey there,

I don't really know anything about NYC venues, but you may want to check on theknot.com. They have local message boards, and tons of other brides go there when planning their weddings. I got a lot of information from my local board when planning my wedding (which is next weekend(!)) Good luck!

Thanks. I have now registered with the Knot so hopefully I can find somewhere soon.
Hope your wedding day was wonderful!

We got married in Queens, you don't really have to go to City Hall in Manhattan, it all depends on where you live at. It wasn't as hectic as the city, and in less than 30 min it was all done and over. Actually it was funny because one couple that came for the wedding didn't have nobody with them, they had to get a witness, so one of our wedding guest just volunteer for them and they got married. lol

Sarah,

You might want to try Barbetta. It's a resteraunt in the the theatre district.

My wife and I got married there at fairly short notice and it only cost us $300. Its a beautiful resteraunt, very old world, it has a garden out the back (the weather might be a bit cold though). You can have the ceremony out there or upstairs in a small private room. We only had 9 people at the wedding (bride and groom included). We had the ceremony outside so had to have it at 11.30am before theey opened at 12pm.

We also had the meal there, which was a bit mmore expensive ($90 per head). Fantastic food, fantastic location, easy to get to, greatt maitre d. I don't know if you have to eat there as part of the deal but it is worth it. Try the chocolate mousse!!! Sublime!!

If you want I can send you some photos of the wedding.

Good luck finding a place

David
