Another one to add to the list...flygirlalbny went to Morocco for the K1 interview with her fiance..interview was yesterday. I spoke with her yesterday and he received 221g stating petition has been returned to the United States. Same consular officer "Kim"...refused to look at any of their proof of relationship from the time the petition was filed up to present date. She will probably post more info when she returns.

For those who have expressed interest in the group, please look for an invite shortly, we are ready. Shokran.

Was this denial for validity of relationship?
kerewin21
I wonder if these petitions are being judged on the evidence that was sent in with the initial K-1, rather than the evidence presented at the interview? I sent in a lot of extra evidence with my petition, I wonder if that's why we got approved. It certainly isn't fair, because the only thing the K-1 requests is evidence of having met within the last 2 years.

I'm sorry to hear about another denial, this is ridiculous sad.gif
MaryandMian
OH no, not another one. My heart goes out to each an eveyone of you dealing with this embassy. This one seems to send alot of petitons back whereas Islambad keeps us in AP/AR forever. Will continue to remember each and everyone going thru these difficult times.

Count me in Kiya once I return from Maroc. I am hoping I can find out some info while at Maroc.
I dont know if I can but will try inshallah. I believe from all the posts and other replies here Maroc (Casa) are over their heads in getting petitions processed. If they are over their head with too many petitions to handle you would think they would request help to handle the overload.

Ok, I have sent out a ton of invitations to the group. If you have not received a message from me inviting you and you are interested in the group, please send me a PM...there are so many of us, I may have missed a few.

rose.gif ~Kiya~ rose.gif

Also, while testing we ran into an issue of a member not being able to see the "messages" link on the left nav bar...so I made a few adjustments to the group settings and we should not have that problem. However, if you have joined and this is happening to you, please let me know.

They have not gotten that answer as of yet but have emailed/faxed the consulate...all attempts to speak to anyone in immigration in person while at the consulate were denied.

Im hoping that if im there for the interview if something bad would happen. We could over turn the decision while im still there. So Im going to ask about time off once we get our interview date.

I support this being pinned! And thank you Kiya, for being willing to do all this work to help others. May God grant you the desire of your heart!

I have to add to this...I personally feel even if our Senators are telling us the truth, they have no reason not to...the consulate is lying to them.

I have learned to not trust anything coming out of this consulate in regards to interviews, petition return, security clearance, visa issuance, anything they can say to cover their incompetent asses, they will. It is obvious to me that the right hand does not realize what the left hand is doing if it realizes it even exists at all.

Sorry...now I'm venting.

I think they would tell the truth this senator has been very good and helpful where the others dont care at all. What annoyed me is interview dates are just by whoever they feel like pulling out of the pile. They dont go by case complete or petition date. HOW DUMB

Mary, That's awesome news. It sounds like your senator's office pulled the right strings and got the action you needed. I'm thinking somebody might be coming home with their man in tow!

Is it possible that all the fuss that's been being raised about the Moroccan consulate has caused enough heat over there to start to scare somebody?

I sure hope so!

jenn,
I have to agree with you. but, let me post this question. do you feel the same way if you got
an interview date it was say 3 months OUT. wouldnt you think its ok or not
for the embassy to make your interview date closer? example what if you got an interview date
for AUG. do you think its fair? of course not. do you think the embassy should step up the date
because you said so? I think that would be more fair - do you agree? I think thats why
the embassy has the option of pulling this and that case. I think ALL of you should havine your
congressman and sentators bust their tail for YOU!

No pisses me off they can just pull out who ever they want not even go on application or case complete date. I have a friend their case was complete about three weeks before me had a February 7th interview. My senator is lazy wont do anything unless i call her. She wont reply to me emails the only way I get her to do anything is if I actually have to call her then she is willing to do something. So its annoying no one cares then I heard that I was annoyed! The senator didnt even know anything tried to tell me the National Visa Center schedules interviews for K1 and K3. I know im just person going through their little game to get a thing in my husbands passport but I know more then she does apprently.

Im not sure I can take to wait to see my husband I want to be at the interview! But my stupid job has all these critical days this summer and if I dare miss one they can fire me over it! And I can probably get time off and he has time off next month. So i guess Ill have to see.

I can take this wait just to see my husband again! Makes me wish i would just of stayed my first time I was there almost three months probably could of did the direct consular file thing and got him here faster!

Jennie,

To answer you question, I had heard from my lawyer that the Casablanca, Morocco Consulate is one of the smaller consulates. And the same staff that handles K1 and K3 Visa's also handles all the other Visa's throughout the week and they only typically handles ours once a week. I also heard through my husband from people in the consulate and what he's seen personally when he is at the Consulate, they are working on the Lottery visa. On Feb 21st he said it appeared to be full of lottery appointments and on Feb 28th the day of his interview he said he was the only interview like his, and there was like 30 lottery visas. He said only 3 of the 30 got approved, and he had to sit through this experience of seeing all these other upset people when they finally took him last that day. Luckily his interview went well. One more thing I am pissed at his on the lottery visas most of the people being denied are because they don't have the bachalor degree. I guess this is a new requirement from what my husband said. But why didn't they make this clear to these lottery visa applicants and why did they send them a letter saying they have wrong the lottery visa to take their money ($700) my husband said to only deny them. Sounds like they know they are going to deny them and are taking their money and they are only slowing down our interviews. Is this a way Morocco is trying to get their budget???????????????????

My husband talked to a couple of the guys that worked at the consulate and earlier he talked to two contacts through people he knewl They checked on his case in the consulate and got back to him a few months ago, i f this tells you who my husband has been talking to.

All I know is Morocco seems to have their priorities messed up and it isn't just with K1 and K3 Visa's. They should handle these first come, first serve and not lie.

My other complaint about Morocco is everyone is trained to tell you as little as possible. This is for anyone getting denied to even the ones getting the Visa and they have to wait first for the security check, or when they are called to drop off their passport. I guess they went through "me can't tell you anything training".

Sorry I guess I am venting when I just meant to answer your question where I heard about the lottery visas and why slow.

Insha'allah all these returned cases have raised BIG questions about what's going on in Morocco... and insha'allah they will clean up their act.

Hoping and praying for you, Maryandatif.... and for everyone who has had their cases returned or is dealing with this craziness out of Morocco. I want big Visa Victories for all of you !!

That is real crappy if they changed requirements and are still taking all that money from people. I think the whole lottery thing is horrible. Yeah...if you give us enough money we'll consider you...for like a minute.

Wow you found out alot!! I heard it might be because of the diversity lottery people! I wounder if they are still behind? I know 3 out of 30 people getting approved isnt right but they have a point if you have a higher degree of education when you come here you can find a job much easier usually. But still I see your point and its alot of money to anyone to lose.

I was so pissed today when my senator told me they just pull any people from the Morocco waiting list for a interview every month. They dont care how long you have waited or anything just anyone! I think Morocco has their head up their something!

I want to go and see my husband but I so want to be at his interview! But if we get a summer interview I cant go they will fire over it! And he has time off in April so it would work out fine!! Im annoyed and miss my husband so much! What type of visa did your husband have a interview for before?

ISL embassy does things diffrently. they actully dont give interview a second time.
they typically call you in and issue the visa. we orginally interview back Aug 26,2005 for my husband
and I interview for his CR1 Sep 23,3005. so at this point they just need to issue. we are off AR.
according to the CO I talked to we just need to submit the packet 3.5 and we have all the documents

I think there is a little confusion about the requirement for the lottery visa. The requirement is a high school diploma, which in Morocco is called the Baccalaureate. Here that is a Bachelor's degree, so unless you've had it explained to you, it is natural to assume it is a college education. It took quite a while for Abdel to make me understand that.

This is not a new requirement there, or one that isn't published with the application. It was right there on the website where you had to go to apply. If people were stupid enough to waste their money to apply, knowing they didn't meet that requirement, then that is stupid people wasting the consulate's time, not the consulate wasting people's money.

Hello, sorry I guess I forgot to say my husbands interview was for his K3 interview. I also agree there needs to be more standards and I agree these lottery winners should have a bachalor degree to qualify. But I think they should all know about this before they get their hopes up and spend money. I do think they might know, but my husband didn't check with them on that, he did tell me a couple stories that happened when he was waiting at the consulate for his K3 interview with these lottery interviews.

Like I said earlier as my husband was there waiting for his interview it must've been hell for him to see so many people getting rejected and their upset reactions. And they took him last. So maybe you should warn your husband this could happen and tell him not to worry it is a different case and makes sense since they obviously don't meet the college requirement, but still it will have to be nerve racking. But if your husband expects it maybe he can stay more calm and be more relaxed for his interview and do better.
1st Story) A man was interviewed and was told right away he was denied because he didn't have a degree, he started yelling and complaining that they stole his money and he is a poor man and $700 is a lot of money. Why didn't they tell them all this in the money before he paid the unrefundable money.
2nd Story) A woman who was the Mother of four got the letter saying she won the lottery visa. Her children are like 22 down to 13 I think. Two of the children live and go to school in the US and they must've filled out her paperwork out and they had come home from the US to be with her for the interview and to take her back with them. She was denied because she had lied on her paperwork that she had a bachalor degree and the Consulate proved it was a lie. She and the family was all upset. I am guessing this probably will get her band from getting a visa now. Lying can do that. I know of others that lied they were US Citizens trying to enter the Mexican border and they are band for life from coming to the USA. And there is also the 3 - 10 year band from others for other issues, the cases I know for that are for spouses that stay in the US to long and leave and can't get back in due to this band. So don't worry about these bands for yourself, but remember there are others in much worse cases and kept from their love ones longer. .

In short I tell these stories for us all to see that this is a hard issue for everyone and what your husbands might have to experience when they are sitting and waiting for their interviews. Please warn your love one, and tell them to ignore and only worry about your case. They have they relax and go in and prove they deserve the visa and nothing else can stop them from getting it, even these sad stories.

Also this can give you a clue why Morocco is so slow and not working on the family visa first like I feel like they should. But do they care, no I do not think they do.

Please keep faith and be positive it will all work out.

You are probably right it is equal to a high school degree, but I thought my husband sad a bachular (meaning college degree) like the USA. I knew they called it different than we do in the USA, that is why I asked for my husband to varify it. But maybe I misunderstood him or he misunderstood me when I asked was this a new requirement for a college degree and he said yes. He said it was new and was to keep more people from getting the visa and making the requirements higher. Whatever the case these people are fools for wasting their time to apply for a lottery visa and they don't qualify. And worst these people should've been denied before it got to the interview step at the consulate, when it wasn't on the application they had the education required Because these people are slowing up the Consulate and our cases and keeping us from our love ones.

This is just being handled wrong no matter what the case.

I will check with my husband about the education requirement again, I am sure I am the one that misunderstood but again there might be new requirements and if there is I totally agree and I know a couple Moroccans that also agree for the same reason.

Sorry, I guess I am venting, I am lucky things seem to be going well and my husband should be getting his visa within the next couple days. But I am still pissed about how long it took to get both his interviews. Becasue my husband should've been here with me months ago. It has been 10 1/2 months since I last saw my husband and it took this long for a K3 Visa because of the poor handling at the US Consulate in Morocco. And I don't want anyone else to have to wait like my husband and I had to.

wow ohio buck thanks for all your replies. I know you have been away from your husband a long time but by the time I get to see mine it will be about two years since i seen him last. Today he was having a panic attack and asked me to move there just cause he cant handle waiting for the interview date. I dont like waiting either but we did all of this im not going to give up waiting for a date. Im not worried about his education he has been a teacher for I think 11 years and he went and studied English for two years before going to school to teach. He had one bad travel visa experience before but I think he knows how things are done there.

Im just not sure now, do I go in April or for the interview? If it takes longer to get his date and its in summer my job will fire me if I miss we have alot of critical days. And he has time off in April and not in the summer. And I feel its important Im at the interview but I dont see how it can help alot but I feel I need to be there. I might not want my job but I have to take it atleast until he passes this stupid interview. Were doing CR-1 and have been waiting almost two months for a interview date. And it seems as if yet again this month no date is there. I just need to see my husband to know he is a live person not just a person on messenger i talk too. Its been way to long since I seen him and I dont know how I do its so hard!

I think the Baccalaureate requirement is *relatively* new, even if it's not brand new. My husband's cousin's wife came here on the lottery 4 years ago and she doesn't have her Bacc, nor do many of the people he knows here from Morocco who came on the DV program.

I don't know if it's true, but Majid said they made that change in the requirements after many people had already applied. I do feel for them, even though Liz is right that it's incumbent upon them to check on the required qualifications before applying. $700 is a lot of money.

I agree with ohiobuck, I don't know why they are wasting their time interviewing people whom they know ahead of time don't qualify based on not having their Bacc... no wonder they're so behind on the family-based interviews!

I don't know if I would feel this way if it didn't impact me personally, but I really think that the family-based visas should have some priority over the lottery visas.

I also agree that you should warn your SO before their interview that there will be LOTS of disappointed DV applicants there. Majid said on his day there were 20 DV interviews, and only 1 of them got the visa, the rest were denied for not having their Bacc...

Exactly I know all visas need to be handled with care and stuff. But a family based visa needs to their top proiority not last. I was told we get hardly any interview spots a month unlike others. How come? Why are we treated like crap?

Actually, I thought the Baccalaurate is equivalent to the HS diploma. The bachelor's is equivalent to their university study. It's the same in europe too. confusing....

This brings to my memory the ILW chat with Lawyers. I attended this last Tuesday and asked a question...got an interesting answer:

My approved K1 petition was returned to the United States. What I want to know is what will make consular officers follow guidelines when interviewing applicants? What does one have to go through to show the Department of Homeland Security/State Department that a consulate needs to be following guidelines instead of re-adjudicating "approved" petitions? I feel like my rights as a US citizen are being overlooked completely.

ilwspeaker
If you have a particular complaint, there are channels you can go through at the state department. This is something that you might bring to the attention of either an attorney to put on the liaison agenda with the Department of State or possibly go through the American Immigration Lawyers Association and media people. If the story is good enough, they might just adverte it, along with radio stations. I just wrote an article through my newsletter about keeping engaged people apart. It's a joke that U.S. politicians "talk" about family values but don't behave like they have a clue what that means.

Her stating that it is a joke that politicians talk about family values but do not behave like they have a clue what it means is sooooo very true. It's like they are saying only what we want to hear to get appointed...sure there are some really great politicians in this country, but I believe they are way out numbered by the other side of the spectrum.
