Here`s a little question i came across on a totally unrelated subject but which may apply here...
Do Embassies want to see divorce decree or a certified copy of the divorce decree?
My case is already at the embassy having gone through uscis and nvc. Will a divorce decree notarized by a notary public, as a true semblance of the original, be accepted rather than the certified document usually issued from the court where divorce was granted.
Comments are welcome..

I have my original decree and I really didn't want to give it up... So on advise of VJ guidelines I went down to the court house and got a certified decree. I sent the certified copy to my fiance and also sent a copy... the second decree cost me about $20 total because it was a complicated divorce but at this point better safe than sorry. I hope they wont need it and my fiance can bring my second copy with him. My instinct tells me that if the seal are visible/legible you may be able to use the copy. Also remember a notary is only certifying your signature not the validity of a document.

Yup! Nuts and bolts!! Decided not to dilly-dally. Have put in motion the process to obtain the certified copy and mail by courier.
Will be playing it safe...
