So, I've faxed back the checklist and first form last Mondsay... so I just sit back and wait now for them to notify me, or should I be emailing to make sure they got it and ask for an interview date?

I'm feeling nervous and edgy and wondering if I should be harrassing them more!! smile.gif

And there is no Vancouver waiting room!

With my daughter's K-2 Visa (she followed to join), I just emailed them and requested a certain date that would work for us, and they emailed me back saying that was fine.

I always find the Vancouver Consulate very good at answering emails.... I sent lots during my own K-1 process and then more for my daughter's K-2 visa.

Email them today.
I sent mine in and gave them 3 dates I wanted. The next day I emailed to confirm they got my fax and they emailed back telling me the interview was on the first date I asked for.

I will email now! Thanks!

Thanks for asking these questions HockeyGal. Amy is waiting for her packet 3 and this is exactly the same question I would ask once she has sent it back.

well, I haven't emailed them yet afterall!

I found out that snugglebunny has to go on a work trip the first two weeks of December, so he can't come get me at the start of the month, as we had hoped. I had asked for a late Nov. interview. Now that I am not sure if a move will even happen before Xmas, thanks to his schedule, I don't know that there is any rush for me to contact the consulate. I can wait for them to send me any old date. sad.gif

Ah, you never know though. Head up, your almost through! I gave Vancouver choices for an interview date and they put my interview way before those suggested times, but it is easy to change it with them if you need to. Good luck!

I decided to be impatient and emailed them anyhow! I told them I was sorry to be a pest, but I was anxious to have an end in sight. Hey, just being honest. I'm curious as to how long it takes to get an interview date in Vancouver. I heard it was currently 6 weeks from checklist return.

they already wrote back... Nov. 20! A week earlier than I requested actually!

Guess they felt sorry for me and my anxiety! smile.gif

PS - it is at 10:AM. Should I show up at 10 or earlier? I seem to recall posts that people show up early and get in line, or did I make that up?

That works at other embassies sometimes, but not at Vancouver. smile.gif Show up at 9:45 or so, and you'll be all good. The guards will let you into the K-visa line when they see your x-ray envelope.

Yep about 15 minutes is early enough. Let them know outside what you are there for. Congrats!

ya 15 minutes is fine ... I showed up 30 minutes before and was told to come back in 15 minutes ....

No need to wait in any lines, go right up to the guards at the door and tell them that you are there for a k1 visa interview and you will walk right in.

Good luck!
hockeygal
excellent. thanks for all the advice guys!

I never brought mine and they never asked for it ... One of the ladies that was there for her K-1 the same day as me had hers with her and she never was asked for it either and ended up holding it on her lap the whole day ...

I got there at 9:45am and saw a long-line outside the consulate door. However once I got to the entrance I was told by the security guard once I showed him my letter that because I was a K1 visa applicant I didn't have to stand in line. Therefore I ran to Starbucks a couple doors down and grabbed a coffee and a muffin. Figured some food would calm my nerves but I could barely keep the muffin down - lol. Once I was guided through initial security, I was given a sheet listing the required materials I should have brought with me, told to put them in the proper order, and to sit in a designated area and wait for my name to be called. I was probably waiting 45 minutes before I was called. After the woman behind the window took my documents I was waiting for another 45 minutes. The actual interview took about 5 minutes - it was a breeze. Once I was approved I was told to come back at 2pm to pick up my visa. It was a cinch! Best of luck to you!!!! wink.gif
