rahma
I'm awake, and hopefully in the last throes of my cold. Lots less sniffling, sneezing and coughing. Not much to do today aside from homework and cleaning.

Amal - thats quite an avatar.
Today I am lazy. I have been awake since almost 3, but just laid in bed watching vh-1. Like I'm in a coma. That orientation yesterday wasn't too bad. Everyone I saw yesterday in Khaki pants had ugly shoes on so that was cool. I start working now on tuesday. Looks like I missed a lot yesterday so I will be catching up for a while. Big day here
amal
hehe thanks!!!

good morning all... aunt flo was knocking on my door last nite, and well, she arrived full force this morning! blink.gif Super cramps and all! On top of that I'm having a funky allergy/sinus attack w/ the weather changing back & forth here. uggghhhhh.... and I have soooo much to do. Was quite productive yesterday tho in getting thru some of my "piles" preparing the house for my guest arriving Wednesday. Inch'allah, Said will be here mid December, I hope, so this is also my preparation in preparation for his arrival too. I just need these cramps to calm down so I can get some work done again today & tomorrow!
Hope you all have a peaceful Sunday.

Woke up at 4am to get sick.

I'm not real excited about the last day of Ramadaan only because I wasn't able to fast since Friday. I thought I'd be happy about that but now I'm not. sad.gif Hopefully I won't have that happen next year insha Allah.

I'm gonna take it easy today since my tummy isn't doing so good. I swear it was the chicken sammich I had at Au Bon Pain yesterday......didn't feel like it was cooked all the way through. huh.gif Still have to leave the house though to do food shopping. I'm hoping the girls will find a friend outside to play with so I can do that by myself. I love them but it takes me an hour more to finish my grocery shopping when they come and the bill tends to be about $50 more too!!! wacko.gif

Rahma, I hope you get better soon. rose.gif

Noura, I've had cramps nonstop for three days now. huh.gif

Dawn, that is too funny about the shoes! Glad it wasn't so bad after all. biggrin.gif

Amal, I can't wait until Usama is here to wake me up in the morning. heart.gif

Have a good one to anyone I missed.

I was woken up this morning with a txt msg from Egypt . . . Happy Feast!!! I think they already have started the end of Ramadan!
just_Jackie
Today after work I will have to pick up phone cards so Mohammed can call all his family tonight. Kelly, what is your favorite card from Chicago to Jordan? We have had good luck with Spirit.

I think I will make the kanafa tonight so he can see me hard at work. laughing.gif

That's weird. Usama told me it was Monday there. Maybe they suddenly spotted the moon after we hung up?

Egypt hasn't officially declared anything yet that I've seen. Here's the list of countries that have declared already.

Aren't they #10 on the list? If so I think it's Monday then since they started the day after the Saudi's started.

Hamid told me today would be the last day yesterday, and then TODAY said, "whoops, it's actually Monday." Grrh... Way to get my hopes hope! (I've been following Morocco since all my Muslim friends here couldn't really come with a consensus as to when to start)

I forgot to say yesterday. I rarely wear Khaki pants but when I do, any color shoe goes with them. I really like the way beige goes with them. However my pants are usually so long that you can only see a tiny bit of my shoe peeking out. star_smile.gif

Ok I used to use those phonecards and they were insanely expensive and not worth it. I started using g-phone. Its like a calling card but they only bill you for the minutes you use and you set the limit of the card and they deduct it at the end of the month. The phone calls are so much clearer than with normal phone cards. www.gphone.com

oh my gosh too funny the conversation i just had with my mom...who up until now has not talked to me about any of my life other than to ask how the kids are doing.

mom: "I want to ask you some questions."

me: "ok"

mom: "are you going to blow us up?"

me: "huh??????"

mom: "well that's how it works you know...they recruit you and then tell you to blow us all up"

me: "nope."...then I went on about how that's a handful of people and if people here would bother to look beyond Fox News and CNN they'd find out that those are nutcases and that the top scholars in Islam have renounced the violence.

mom: "are you going to live in Egypt and take the kids with you?"

me: "NO!!! That's one of our agreements is that we live here until the kids are all grown"

mom: "doesn't it bother you that he is not able to come here?"

me: "nope. it's impossible to come here on a visitor's visa"

mom: "but those planes are all jam packed full of people going in and out!!"

me: "yes with tourists and EGyptians with visas."

mom: "are the kids going to remain Catholic?"

me: "yes. they are too old for me to make them change. they can choose once they get older if they want to be different."

mom: "phew. now I can sleep at night."

wacko.gif

This was actually a very nice conversation. lol. Very promising and at least she's talking about it without wailing and saying that she is gonna miss me when I die. whistling.gif

Jaq....we dont really use calling cards. his bro has this deal with some private company, he gets like some odd mins for 100$ its worth it though and the calls always go thru....Im not all excited about the Eid...im working tomorrow 12-8...tuesday i have a class for my job from 10-7, wednesday im off...but from what my brother in law has said is just that he and my husband will be off visiting people, which means, since i dont get included i could really care a less...he said no one really will comehere since we are remodeling...

on another note...im soooo excited abotu my holidays coming....thanksgiving is the 24th right? then my bday is the 28th of Nov....then xmas shopping the whole month, then xmas and new years will be here before i know it...sofyan is very excited to see what xmas is like here...although he wont be celebrating the religious aspect of it. i think he will really enjoy all the lights, festivities, snow, family, food, endless amounts of gifts, etc...seeing how i was in jordan for all this last year, i really cant wait smile.gif

hope everyone has a blessed Eid...
