We filed for all three... but if we had to do it again I'd just get the AOS and EAD and skip the AP because we never even got it in the mail so it was a waste of money! I only got the EAD to be an ID card so I could open a bank account but it was worth it to know I was a 'real person'...

If I would have known that my AOS would be approved in just a little over 3 months, I would have only applied for the AOS and waited to travel and work.
But I was worried that some emergency might come up with either my elderly mother or my 3 children in Canada, so I wanted to be able to go back to Canada if I needed to.

We only filed AOS and EAD. I figure if an emergency came up we would file for emergency AP. Plus with the AOS interviews being scheduled so fast now a days we figured we wouldn't need it.

We filed for all three, but if we knew we'd get an interview date as soon as we have we'd have just filed for AOS.

We went for the whole dang shooting match, but I ended up not using my EAD card, due to a variety of reasons. I ended up using AP for a family emergency, and I was glad I already had it in hand so I didn't have to make the trip to beg and plead for an emergency AP.

All 3 and ended up getting(and paying for) an Emergency Ap before regular one showed up.

We did AOS and EAD only. Used the EAD right away so it paid off on the first check. As for the AP, even if an emergency came up, we couldn't afford a plane ticket. Not being able to afford a plane ticket in my opinion is a bigger emergency!

Applied for AOS, EAD.
Waiting to apply for AP closer to the date we want to travel on vacation back to Canada.

I see some people not filing for all 3 at the same time. Is there a cost issue with all three? I know that AOS costs something (not sure the exact amount)
What's the scoop?

AOS and EAD. As I was approved so fast the EAD turned out to have been a waste of money but ya never know aye...

Never felt the need to have AP, but it was important to me to be able to work.

We filed for AOS and EAD, since we had to co-file the I-130 we couldn't afford AP as well. And then the EAD came but G got screwed because he was offered a job verbally just before Thanksgiving and then they kept putting him off with a start date and retracted the offer in the middle of December. So we essentially lost six weeks because then he couldn't start looking again until after New Year's. Our interview was January 13, he finally worked his first temp job the following Monday (though he did get offered one to start on the 13th and obviously had to turn them down) and then started work for good about a week later. So in other words the EAD was really a waste of money, though he was able to get his DL with it.

Skipped the AP because we don't really have the money to be throwing away just in case he wants to use it!

Filed for all 3. I'm glad I got the AP, even though it had to be issued as an Emergency in the end, since they weren't doing squat about the 'real' one. If we didnt have the AP, we'd be in serious trouble now.
Just got EAD approved, so the card should arrive soon. This is a good thing as no sign of an interview date yet. However, I wont be able to use it until end of May/start of June when we're back in the States and I have an SSN. Of course by that time we might well have an interview date, so the EAD might be a waste of money for us, we're yet to see on that one. However, I guess it will be nice to have so I can get my name properly on the bank accounts etc.
As others have said, if we knew what the processesing times would be (and had we not had an RFE) we probably would have done things differently.

Didn't have the cash for the EAD at the time... knew that by the time i had it it would be close enough to the interview date not to really be an issue so I never bothered.. didn't go for AP because I figured my family can come here for now.. after I get the green card we will likely be going there most of the time anyways...

AOS and EAD. I had no burning reason to need to return to Canada (and figured if there was, emergency AP would work), and Seattle is processing AOS at about a 6 month rate...we are exactly 6 months from NOA to interview.

AOS and EAD. Didn't feel the need to file for AP as at the time I wasn't on speaking terms with relatives and I don't have any friends

Applied for AP in case of family emergency. I'll feel a lot more settled when I get it. Don't like the idea of not being able to travel outside the country if I wanted/needed to. If one of my parents was ill I would be on the first plane back to the UK. Wouldn't want to have to wait for emergency AP.

Not worth the extra money and paperwork to do AP or EAD. Will just wait out the GC.

You left out " AOS and AP" in the poll. That's what I would have ticked off. I'll worry about EAD later in the fall. Right now I want to be able to travel back and forth to Canada whenever I feel it is necessary. I feel like a prisoner here not being able to go back to Canada even if it's just for a Sunday drive.....we only live 1 1/2 hours from the border. I do miss home A LOT but I couldn't bear to be without my husband either. But I do have to get AP for August...........I'm hoping and praying because my daughter is expecting her first baby (our 3rd grandchild) And I want to be home in September for my Dad's 98th birthday/family reunion............((((((((((HUGS))))))))))

This is what I'm gonna do too - and like MarieAnastasia I won't be applying for EAD either, just the AOS and AP (due to my mom not being in the best of health)

AOS and EAD and AP
Sujeet never ended up using the AP, and didn't travel back to India until he had his green card. But still it was important that he have AP incase he needed to go to India for any reason.
