Full Version: Interview update.....

jordanianprincess
First of all, thanks to all the MENA ladies for keeping me company last night.

Ok so here are the results....I DONT KNOW laughing.gif

So he was interview 2 times, they asked alot of questions. I can't remember them all right now and we only spoke briefly because he had to go to a funeral. I will post an update later regarding the questions but she was rather concerned about the length of our engagmet and wanted to know why we didnt get married. unsure.gif She also asked alot about the priest that did our ceremony. She said our paperwork looked good.

So after both interviews the lady gave him a yellow paper that said we need additional processing that would take 4-6 weeks, she crossed out the 4-6 weeks and put 2 weeks. She gave him her card and told him that when he gets the call that the processing is done to send his paspport (they didnt keep it) to her via Aramex and that he was eligible to get the visa. I'm not clear if this means he actually got it. huh.gif She didn't congratulate him or anything so I'm not sure, she was very nice to him he said and very helpful.

So right now I'm reluctant to celebrate because I'm a pesimist at heart blush.gif and I want to be sure before doing so. So i guess the next step is to call DOS to find out whats going on.

Does anyone know what this yellow paper is? helpsmilie.gif
dawnnhatem
I can't associate any yellow paper with amman. Might be a k-1 specific thing? See if he can scan&send it to you. Do you think she reduced the processing time because she only needs to verify that your ceremony wasn't indeed a wedding? That could be a good sign. Sorry they didn't close the deal in one shot. I really expected you to walk right through this. I hope dos has some good information for you.
wife_of_mahmoud
Hmmmmmm a yellow paper. Not sure what that might be...

But from what you're describing, it all sounds fairly routine to me. In fact the "crossing out" of "4-6 weeks" and replacing it with "2 weeks" seems positive.

I was hoping he'd walk out with the visa, but insha'allah it's just a standard AR for name check, etc. and will be finished very soon.

Your recap of the interview was very good ! I know you're on pins and needles but hang in there JP.... I think you'll see the visa in hand very soon....

Donnow what the yellow paper, but Good luck! Rooting for ya!
MaryandMian
Sounds like standard AR and hopefully you will have it finished in a few weeks. Good luck.

I don't know what this yellow paper is either but I know the women he had is a hard one, Faisal was lucky and only had her for two minutes and was thrown off to an older man. But a friend of mines husband had her and it was a hard interview and he's still in amman coz his wife is trying to get cosponsor with higher income. Anyway, sounds like he got the visa and that they want to do a few more checks on some things before so. So spirits up woman, looks like u will be seeing your husband soon. If you want, you can email your case directly to amman and they will answer you, say you are confused whether or not your husband will be here with you, etc. The long engagement, well, simple, you want the marriage in USA and they take to long for an interview date! Tada! Look forward to the visa girl, they wouldn't have asked for his passport by aramax in a few weeks if he didn't get it, that's my opinion.

that is odd jp, that there is not a yes or no after the interview huh.gif
amal
they basically did the same thing to my husband (it wasn't yellow though....i don't think...) They told him 2 weeks..to bring back some information..he took info back and 2 days later they gave him his visa... I am sure it is just a standard thing and there is nothing to worry about! Much luck to both of you smile.gif

Could it be the standard security check before we can issue the visa and the paper is just different in jordan than we see in other countries? I think it is optimistic news. good.gif

I am so tired I cant see the screen. I am getting too old for slumber parties laughing.gif I had a great time last night. MENA girls rock.

JP, I read your post this morning to Mohammed and he said this is normal. He got the same paper. You should hear something soon. His call came 12 days after the interview. I know you won't dance til after that call so we will put that debkah on hold.

Charles,

MENA interviews are not as cut & dry as other interviews. MOST receive administrative processing after the interview, which adds extra wait of 2 weeks - 2 years.

Good luck JP in getting past this quickly. star_smile.gif

Well it sounds like it went pretty well and 2 weeks isn't so long when you look at how long you've waited this far so ok I'll 1/2 celebrate for you too! kicking.gif

My guess is that the yellow paper is the 221g, but until you actually see it you won't know. Have your honey scan and e-mail it so you can see yourself.

Sounds like the standard stuff for an male from the Middle East, and it sounds as if it will be over with quickly. My first instinct is to congratulate you...But I understand you pessimism... laughing.gif
rahma
Hope that the processing goes quickly!

Hmm never heard of a yellow paper, but we got a white paper for AP to bring back our after we were married evidence, and they didn't take his passport at that time also. So sounds good too me. They are probably doing some kind of check. Hopefully on the paper he got it will say what kind of check he got.

I hope he gets the visa quickly! Congratulations on your interview success! good.gif

kicking.gif Congrats!! I'm sure he'll have his visa in 2 weeks like the lady said! biggrin.gif rose.gif

Ok so I called him again and interrogated him tongue.gif It appears to me that we were approved.

So apparently he was #2 in line. He interviewed first with an arabic guy who he said was a jerk. The guy asked him:

What is her name?
Where does she live?
How did you meet?
When did she come to Jordan?
When did she leave Jordan?
When did you get engaged?
Where do you live?
Where do you work?

He was then asked to sit down after verifying some information and to wait. He was then called to another window by an American lady who he said was extremely nice and very helpful.

She told him that she assumed his english was good and she would conduct the interview in english but if he had any trouble understanding anything that she also spoke fluent arabic and would be happy to explain more to him.

The first thing she asked was:

What do you plan to do with JP tongue.gif when you get to America? He said I plan on marrying her and starting our family.

How did you meet?

When did she come?

Why didnt you get married? 1 year is a long time for an engagement. He responded and said that we tried but the church refused. She then said ohh yes I read that in your letters of intent and apologized for asking the question again.

She then asked to see pictures and asked who everyone was in the photos. She asked about the priest, who he was and how we knew him.

She asked him if he had any immediate family in the USA

She asked him what he planned to do for our wedding in the USA, he said we were getting married in a church and then a reception after.

She then said who are going to be the guests? He said mostly from her side, her parents, family friends.

She said are your parents going to be there? He laughed and said if you give them a visa, she laughed and made some notes in the computer.

After that she said ok Mr. JP tongue.gif you paperwork really looks very good and you are qualified to recieve a visa. We will need to do some additional processing and this paper says 4-6 weeks but it never takes that long and in cases like yours its about 2 weeks. (thats when she crossed it out) She also reminded him that he should count the holidays because Eid is right around the corner. She said I'm not going to take your passport right now incase you need to use it. Then she stapled a card with a number on it in his passport and said to send it to her attention via aramex when he gets the call from the embassy.

Then he asked so Did I get the visa? She said everything is fine and you will have the visa after we finish processing. Congratuluations Sir, I hope you and your fiance have a wonderlife and beautiful children together.

Sounds to me like he got it.....

He was out of there by 10am, and in hindsight he said if he ever interviewed again he would want it to be with the same lady because she was so nice, helpful, and patient.
Jenn!
Wow, so he's taking your name, JP? How progressive!

I have never heard of a 221g on a small yellow slip inside the passport, I don't think it's that. I think it has something to do with a check into the paperwork or something... either way you guys are good to go!

So can I congratulate you two NOW??? Please??? biggrin.gif This does sound really good. I know you won't relax until he has it in his hand, but now that you've had a chance to talk with him more, I don't see anything negative here. Best wishes to you both, and I'll dance when he has it in hand! rose.gif

I called the DOS and they asked me if he was divorced, I said no, I was divorced. He said they were verifying that and everything looks ok. He said to call back tomorrow when there is more info.

Here is the sucky part. Tomorrow is Friday, the embassy is closed. Its also closed on the weekend and then Eid will start. So I don't think I will know anything until Eid is over.

Sorry! I failed to mention that in my post. I told Sarah that via IM. It was a small piece of paper that she put in the passport and it was pre-printed with nothing other than that paragraph.
