I know it's a silly topic title, but it's a legitimate concern.

Under 'Initial Evidence' section I. Evidence of Eligibility there is a section for Advance Parole applicants it states "b. An explanation or other evidence showing the circumstances that warrant issuance of an advance parole document; or c. If you are an applicant for adjustment of status, a copy of the USCIS or former INS receipt as evidence that you filed the adjustment of status."

How have you forum members approached this portion of the instructions? What do you generally state as your qualification/justification for AP and how much do you tend to write? Also, how do you format the document (i.e. any type of particular heading on the top of the document).

Any suggestions or guidance would be much appreciated.

I filed the AP with my AOS so didn't have any other proof when I filed it. For the justification I wrote a paragraph explaining that I have an elderly parent who while in good health now has a health problem that can change very quickly and needed to be able to travel on a moment's notice. I also explained that I was submitting my AOS application at the same time as the AP. I had no difficulties getting the AP.

I wrote this on a separate page and headed it with the number of the question and then typed out the question as it appeared on the form. I put my name and A number at the top of the page.

NLP,

See that word "or" at the end of item 'b'? You do not need to address this item. As an applicant for adjustment of status you address item 'c'.

If you want to address item 'b' anyway, the circumstances that warrant issuance of an advance parole document are,
- you are an applicant for adjustment of status and
- you may have a need or desire to travel outside the USA while your application for adjustment is pending.
