in your case cr1 you have already paid the 380 dollars visa fee, so don t worry about that one
the fee for the medical for my husband was 235 eu ,he had to take all the vaccines though, he paid cash at the medical office no problems .make sure he plan to spend a long time there .my husband stayed there from 8 15 to 3pm (got me worried and called everywhere, my brother in low who lives in italy, called the medical office for me and was told he is still there

)
my husband took 4 pictures with him I will ask him tomorrow how many they took from him and get with you.
for his trip to the medical office, my husband took the bus and it wasn t that bad.
where is your husband staying do you know??
if you husband speaks italian I wouldn t worry about him, mine arrived at the hotel sunday took the bus to the medical office and walked to the embassay so he got himself familier with thier locations
let me know if you have any other questions

Anna,
It took about a month to get a date for an interview from the time we faxed packet 3, and the interview was scheduled for about a month after we received packet 4.
So, from the time we faxed our applicant's statement to the consulate to the time he interviewed was two months.
Hope this helps!
I would keep trying to call them and ask the date. That is how I found out. When you call the number, press 1 for English and then press 0, which gives you the operator. From there, ask for the Visa Section. They are only open Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4pm, I think it is.
Maybe that's why you couldn't get through. Be persistent and if you get the voicemail for the Visa section even if you call during business hours, call the operator back...eventually you'll get through.

Endless, communication is very important. As soon as you know they have your case, try to ask them to email you Packet 3. Stay in touch with them throughout the process, make sure they got your faxed response, etc.

Hi Italia gang,
Congrats to those of you who have recently gotten your visas and interview dates.
It looks like I'm finally ready to enter the process. Everyone wants things to move fast, but I've had to hold up my application in order not to get a visa sooner than my husband is ready to use it, for work and family reasons. If the official part goes as fast and efficiently as I (naively?) hope, we may have to drag our feet a few times during the process to make all the timing work out... I'm ready to go tomorrow, but I have to be patient
Anyway, I've just posted my cover letter in the
DCFers: Please Post Your Cover Letters thread. Please go take a look and tell me if you see any problems with it.
Thanks!

Ciao everyone! I just found this Italia sub-forum and great info!
I posted my questions today on the Main DCF page though...would you mind checking it out please? And thanks to whattodo who already replied.
Can anyone give me suggestions on
transportation and l
odging for the interview? I see one comment on areamare B&B but it says "no".
My husband, baby, and I all plan to go to Naples for the big day(s)... so we will probably arrive by either train or plane (coming from NE Italy) then we have to get to the lodging and consulate. With the baby, I don't know what our safe options would be, without our own car and a carseat!
Lodging that's within walking distance to the consulate would be good... Just need to figure out how to get there once we land in Napoli.
In this whole visa process, this last part will the the most expensive! Train or plane for 3 (400 Euro +) plus lodging for 3 nights plus local transportation costs, food and extras. So I hope some of you might have some great words of wisdom from your travels there yourselves!
Any suggestions on lodging nearby and best mode of transportation?
Grazie!
~Mrs.M~

Welcome to our little bunch, glad to see you here! I've posted in your DCF, hope I was of some help, about your husbands US jobs, just keep asking around, I'm sure someone has had a similar experience, (I used a joint sponsor)
as far as transportation and hotels go...
I do remember 3sila and mollyrena mentioned hotels a few pages back, but it dosent look like they had the best experience there. IMO downtown Naples isn't a nice place, I mean yes there are things to see, eat but....
Here's some hotel info a few pages back, but I don't remember if 3sila's husbands experience there was ok or bad. Have a look:
http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...c=37&st=255Have you had any successful searches on the net? Are you close to any airports, easyJet and Ryanair have nice deals, alipeagles sometimes is a good bet.

Hi Bree!
Thanks for commenting. No, Rome doesn't specifically ask for evidence of relationship but the general I-130 instructions now say that evidence of bonafide marriage should be included. Now that you've asked I'm a little worried I read something intended for people in a different process and that I'm overdoing it... But even if it's not necessary, I don't imagine it can hurt, right? Oh, it's so silly how easily we can get nervous in this process!
My husband and I went through our whole packet today and signed everything. It's ready to go in the mail tomorrow.

Hello everybody! I'm new to the VJ forum, and about to start my own journey. I am an Italian citizen and live in Rome - my fiancé is the USC, and lives in the DC area. Today he got official notification of his divorce, so we're free to pursue the K-1 visa, which seems to be the quickest option.
Hopefully I'll be able to rely on people's advice in this thread. For the time being, I have a very simple question, regarding the photos my fiancé has to send with the petition. Where would you recommend me to go to have them taken, and what should I ask the photographer to do (if anything)? Thank you in advice for your help!

Here's what you need to know for the photos:
http://italy.usembassy.gov/visa/forms/photo-it.aspJust print out that page and take it to a local photographer. My husband went to a photo shop underground at the Metro station in Milan. I'm sure you can find a similar shop in Rome that does custom photos to meet the requirements. The machines for Italian ID cards make the wrong size. It didn't cost much and was fairly quick. He just walked in to get the pictures taken and then had to go back to pick up the prints a few days later. I imagine there are also others who will do instant photos.
Good luck!

Ciao tutti!
I am new to the forum. I am a usc living with my husband in Venice, Italy. I have established residence here in Italy but have maintained my job in the United States. Couple of questions for you wise ones out there...
Since I do go back to work once every couple of months, does anyone know if this will affect whether or not we will be able to dcf? I am planning on calling Rome on Monday but do they even still offer dcf in Italy?
Also, I am wondering how others went about getting a check, etc from a bank affilated with the US. Not sure where to start to look for that.
And final question...on the I-130 petition, where it asks for an address in the United States is it ok to put something like--will establish in Florida? I have my address for tax purposes, etc as my parent's address in Indiana. However, my work and hopefully our future residence will be in Florida. (I usually stay with friends or hotels when I am there.)
Any other information you have that you can give a newbie will be appreciated!
Thanks! biggrin.gif

Thanks! biggrin.gif
If you have official residence in Italy ( a permesso di soggiorno and an italian address of residenza), you can do DCF. It's irrelevant how often you go back to the US, and it's helpful that you work there because you'll clearly be able to show US domicile and income when you get to the interview stage.
For the check, I got a cashier's check from my US bank when I went back for a visit. If you're going there anyway for work, you can just pick up a cashier's check from the bank on your next trip.
I think you have to fill in an address on the I-130 where it asks where your husband intends to live. But you can change it later. He's not obligated to move to that address. I would probably use your parents' address because it will be consistent with all your other documents. But you can ask the folks at the USCIS in Rome what they recommend.
Good luck.

Thanks so much for your advice!
Like you said, it is probably easiest for me to get the cashier's check in the states and then start the whole process when I get back.
Thanks again and good luck to you too!
