Yes, Italy does allow DCF to USC's who have a Permesso di Sorgiorno in Italy! So far it's been real quick for us!

In our case the Adam Walsh Act didn't affect us filing in Italy. Ours was already in Rome when that happened, don't know exactly if it affected following filings, just to be sure, contact the Rome Embassy (where the US citizen will file the I-130) at 06 46 7421 90 between 8.30 am and 12.00 pm. They speak Italian and English and are always helpful and polite.

There are very few cases of Italy DCF here on VJ, don't hesitate to ask, I'll do what I can to help.

Here is a link to the Florence Website:

First find out if you may file, then let me know!

Good Luck!

Thanks for the info breezy good.gif Google isn't always your friend laughing.gif

hello to all of you guys luv.gif
some good news here thanks God our case had been completed and sent to the naple embassay as of april the 17 kicking.gif
we are still in the process of collecting all needed documents ...translation is another story
My husband's english isn t good enought to have the interview in english
do you guys know if he can have the interview done in italian ? also how much do those vaccinations cost ? any ideas
breezy
3sila,

Congrats! kicking.gif kicking.gif

star_smile.gif What language are the documents in? When I recieved Packet 3, it states that "all documents in a language different than English or Italian must be translated into English. The translations must include a signed declaration from the translator which affirms that the translator is competent."

star_smile.gif I really do think that he can do his interview in Italian, they might ask how you two communicate if he dosen't speak English well, or something like that. I'm sure that everyone at the Consulate speaks fluent English and Italian. I think I've seen this case in other countries, and I THINK it was fine that they didnt speak English well, you might want to e-mail Naples, I've gotten e-mails back in less than a week sometimes!

IVNaples@state.gov is their e-mail address.

star_smile.gif possibly required vaccinations:

-orecchioni (mumps?)
-morbillo (measles?)
-rosolia (rubella?)
-polio
-tetano (tetanus)
-difterite (diphtheria?)
-influenza
-epatite b (hepatitus cool.gif
-varicella (chicken pox)
-influenza tipo b
-vaccino antipneumotocicco

Applicants should consult their family physicians for their "libretto di vaccinazione", and that only a doctor is able to determine which vaccinations of those listed are appropriate for a person depending on age, etc. Those who do not have their libretto can be obligated to be re-given these vaccinations. The cost will depend on the type of required vaccination as listed below:

costi amministrativi 15 euro
anatoxal (tetano, difterite) 10 euro
energix (epatite cool.gif 24 euro
morupar (morbillo, orecchioni, rosolia) 20 euro
pneumo 23 (antipneumotocicco) 21 euro
difteral (dtp bambini) 7 euro
hiberix (Hib) 21 euro
varilrix (varicella) non disponsibile
imovax (polio) 10 euro

If your husband is between 18 and 64, it seems to me that according to this chart, he would only need to show proof of having been vaccinated for: Td (tetanus and diphtheria), MMR (combined measles, mumps and rubella) and Varicella (chicken pox).

Hope all this helps, don't forget to leave what you've learned for others!

EDITED TO ADD, I HAVE NO IDEA WHY SMILEYS ARE CLOSE TO THESE VACCINATIONS?!? I THINK IT'S THE B THAT TURNED INTO SUNGLASSES?"?! WHEN I TRY TO EDIT THEY DONT SHOW UP, SORRY.

I am sure he could have his interview in Italian if the Consul spoke the language, but unfortunately it's not always the case... sad.gif When I had my interview in 2004 the Consul only spoke English and knew not one single word of Italian, so those who were not fluent in English had either their spouse/fiance/relative as translators or an official one there with them. It wasn't a problem, but they still had to have someone who could translate for her (it was a femal consul at the time). I am sure it is no big deal, but I would email Naples and ask about this particular matter for the time being.

In Italy you have to get your official vaccination record certificate at your local ASL (or where you actually received the shots, not sure about this), not your family doctor (they don't keep records of vaccinations). I am not sure the libretto is an official thing you can actually show at the consulate, I think it's more of a personal record. What I always was told and heard of was the "certificato di vaccinazioni effettuate" which, as I said above, you get at your ASL. If you contracted some of the deseased spontaneously , therefore you didn't need to get vaccinated and don't want to get a shot you don't need now and there is no record of the fact you are immune, then you can get a titer test done. It is bloodwork that shows your antibodies, in Italian it's called "dosaggio degli anticorpi". The test is accepted by the Consulate.

BTW earlier in the thread I posted all the details about this and also a link to the official vaccination requirement chart that shows what you actually need to be immune of since it varies by age.

I don't think you'll have any problems to get your passport style pics taken at any professional photographer, but you can always bring the requirements with you to be on the safe side. BTW just ask for "foto tessera per passaporti" and you'll be fine. There are also automatic machines that do this, at train or subway stations usually, but the quality is not so good and you always end up looking horrid with those machines! whistling.gif tongue.gif

Hope it helps and good luck with everything.

Link to the official vaccination requirements chart
It is from the US embassy in london, but the requirements are the exact same for Italy.

Hi kappa! And how are you?

This info is more specific in packet 3 which will arrive about 1 month before the interview.

The cost of the Medical Exam is 180 Euros. Extra vaccines are anywhere from 7 to 10 to 21 Euros extra each. My husband took 2 extra, tetanus and one for Morbilla if I remember right. And the total was 235 Euros.

The Visa fee on the day of the interview was 380 United States Dollars Cash. I believe it was also possible to pay at the Consulate in Euros also.

Yes, all cash.

Soon I'll leave a more detailed post on our DCF Italy Experience, I'll be sure to let you know when I've completed it.

Hope everyone is well! Things sure are great here now that we have his visa!

kappa,

thanks for the Congrats.

As far as I know the fee is 380$ for both types of visas.
When I recieved the information on fees, that was not specified, it mentioned nothing about if you were married for more that 2 years pay this and if you were married for less than two years pay this.
Only immediate relative/spouse visa was specified and is 380$.

Have you got your packet three yet?

MOLLYRENA wanted to thank you too for your post awhile back in the DCF section! Thanks!

We got the Med info and form I-864 one month before the interview date. (after a very long story, too many confusing details.)
I didn't use any of those forms because I printed and prepared them before hand, from the USCIS website.
(The ones they sent in the mail were even expired, another long story)

So that's what I suggest to do. That way you don't have to depend on them to do things right.

Form I864 for me and one for our joint sponsor:

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD

Medical Info: I think in this thread, last page, I've left some details on the Medical.

Also in the packet, it said to fax the DS-230 PART 1 to them, (long story) I talked to them on the phone and they said not to worry about it, so I faxed it anyway. One the interview day, they didnt even have it in our file, thank goodness i was prepared and had copies of it. So you'll have to fax that to them. fax number is:081 583 8394

Also in the packet was a letter to send back them once you prepared all your documents, fax it to them, and they will assign you an interview date. I called them a Looong time before and mentioned we we're more than ready for an interview and somehow shortly later we got an email saying our interview date was set for the 7,and 8th of May.

I hate that this sounds so confusing, they were not organized, and it drove me nuts, but in the end it ddint matter.

I will make a more detailed post about our experience soon, I'll let you all know, just busy at the moment, but if there's anything anyone would like to know just ask, and ill do my best!

oops forgot this:

Documents:

Passports of those attending the interview, and it must be the kind valid in the U.S.A. and must be valid for at least 8 months after the interview date.

Hi Breezy:
thanks for all the valuable information...
I have a question about the certificato di matrimonio...I got mine and had an Apostille placed on it, but that was a looonnng time ago. Do you think I'll have to get a more recent one printed? I can't remember the name of the place that handles certificati di matrimonio.
Thank you!

So when are you two lovebirds flying home?
breezy
oops, i got sleepy and forgot to log out...lol

hey mollyreyna,

We got our MC in the same county where we were married in, Naples. It just took a second for them to get the record, print, stamp and sign another one. At the Consulate at the interview they asked for that and it was just fine. Our other one was from 2004, so we thought we'd be on the safe side and get a more recent one, which was like 8 months ago. While we were in the county hall, they did say that every thing expired except for a BC & Death Cert. Don't ask me.

where are you again, i've totally forgot or have a foggy brain from my needed nap. Where are you and where is he? Not too sure when we will be in the U.S. Hopefully sooon! thanks again for the support you left in the DCF section before our interview, i dont think i mentioned it there.

kappa,

Our I-130 was approved by Rome on Feb 23.
Naples got our case on March 5th.
Packet 3 got to our house on April 10th.
Our Interview was May 7 and 8.
The visa was issued on May 8.

In one of my last posts I gave almost all of the information that they will send, so from that you can already start to get things ready, instead of waiting for packet 3 to get to you. That way you will already be prepared.

from my husband during the interview.

that got me thinking because I am planning on sending our original MC from last year and
it will be almost a year old by the interview time sad.gif could that be a problem?

Dear Breezy:
I am finding your post very useful as I am gathering all of my husband's stuff for the interview. I had a couple questions for you though...
1. - Statement from the Bene saying that no military, court, or divorce applied to him - IS THIS NECESSARY? Or can I simply omit the documents as they don't apply?
2. - Stato di Famiglia - what is this and is it necessary? I remember my husband had to get this from Ecuador before we got married.
3. Most of the letters sent to my husband have the return address with my nickname (Molly). Do you think I should include them or will this through the consular officer off?

Thank you in advance for sharing your wisdom.

breezy
Hi everybody!

kappa-

star_smile.gif The Naples Consulate did the interview, which was over at about 10.30 a.m. an told us that he should come back at 4.00 p.m. to pick up his visa.

star_smile.gif In packet 3, they asked to bring documents and evidence of relationship, which could be anything you have from a statement signed by the beneficiary and the petitioner swearing that they met at a certain place at a certain time, with photos to show the two people were together. It could be wedding pictures, letters from family or friends recognizing you two as a couple. Plane tickets you used to visit eachother. Anything that shows you two do have a real relationship.

During my husband's interview, they asked ONLY for our marriage certificate, and then a few simple questions like how did you meet. We took lots and lots of evidence, just in case they wanted to see it.

star_smile.gif The Naples Counsulate accepted documents written in Italian and English. The Rome Embassy only accepted documents in English.

Molly- Hey there, welcome, I'm glad your getting something out of what I've left, I really need to organize a better post on the topic and ask to have it pinned. I will. Anyways,

star_smile.gif No, a statement from the Beneficiary saying that no court, military or divorce IS NOT necessary. I went overboard and did that anyways, I didn't know what to expect. They simply asked Were you in the military, every married before?

star_smile.gif No, stato di famillia is NOT needed either, once again I went for overkill. blush.gif I had planned to use it for Evidence of Relationship, it wansn't mentioned anywhere at all, somethign I threw in.

star_smile.gif No, I don't think it will throw the officer off, just throw a few in to be on the safe side, ONCE again, I over did it and had 40 of documents and evidence to tote around all day...lol @ me.

Hope this bit helps, let me know if there's anything else and don't forget to leave hints at VJ for others! wink.gif

whattodo
Breezy,

I love how thorough you are! Even if some of it turned out to be overkill, you were smart to be prepared. And now you can help all of us who follow after you to know what's really not necessary. On the other hand, I imagine every interviewer is different and depending on the mood of the day, they might want more or less evidence. So it never hurts to go a bit overboard.

We're not going to file until September, but I'm already collecting my documentation. Yesterday, I gathered photos and plane tickets from past visits and printed a few screen shots of my e-mail program showing the abundance of messages exchanged over the years. Since we'll already have been married for three years when we interview, and have been together much longer than that, I doubt they'll ask us for much proof, but it's actually kind of fun putting it all together -- the personal stuff at least. It's a little trip down memory lane.

Hi all:
To summarize, all costs for interview (not including train tickets, hotels, and food) are:

1. $100 (paid to Banca Nazionale di Lavoro) for non-immigrant visa application fee as noted in Packet 3 (Not sure if this only applies to K-3 or to everyone)
2. E180 for medical exam + extra money for vaccinations
3. Another $380 for another Visa fee on day of interview??? (Does this apply to K-3 too?)
4. ???? Cost of taxi from hotel to medical examination doctor ????

Being able to wake up every morning and see the one you love....priceless

Can you confirm?

whattodo- Welcome to our little spot, now you can lurk/wait with the rest of us. wink.gif
Make yourself comfy and at home! luv.gif I didn’t ever expect to have so much evidence
but I had a lot of time to prepare for the interview and while strolling down
memory lane, things just… accumulated! I’m glad your having a good time too. heart.gif

Molly- My husbands medical took place in Vomero, which is far from the Consulate.
We live in Naples (ONLY FOR THE MOMENT!!) so that wasn’t an issue for us.
The Consulate advised us of where it would take place when we got our interview
date. I don’t know if there’s something closer, you’d think they would try to organize things
that way, for our sake, but… seems they don't. Anyways the Instituto Varelli was very nice,
great staff, and easy enough to get to. If you need very detailed driving directions, let me know! wink.gif

3sila- What does that mean exactly? ohmy.gif That they are taking more time to look over your documents/
evidence? Is it a bad thing or does it mean just waiting? Sorry to hear about that, hope all turns out well.

kappa- Your always welcome, I just wish I could help more! smile.gif

Everybody have a good day! ITS FESTA HERE! We’re going out for ICE CREAM! yes.gif tongue.gif biggrin.gif

Hi guys.

Is it true that you have to pay the petition fee in Rome with a cashier's check or money order from a US bank (or cash if you're delivering it in person)? People doing DCF in other countries talk about their credit card being charged... I know, this is Italia...
Luckily, I'm planning to be in the US in July and can get a check while I'm there and, luckily but unhappily, I just noticed that the fee is going UP, but I'm just wondering if there's some other way to pay, by mail from Italy without having to go get the check in the US.

And do you know if the fee for the immigration visa (thru DCF) will be the same as for AOS? I don't see a visa fee on the new price list.

Thanks all!

Hey whattodo,

I hate that I don't have good info's on that for you.

We did the check, payable to a U.S. bank and in the very end it went back to the Embassy because it was more than 6 months old. Our case was put on temp hold. I freaked thinking that it was going to be a mess to do that all over again. So I called the Embassy and the nicest lady said, just send cash through UPS with your information to the same address that the petition was sent to. So we did. Not the safest thing in the world, but it worked for us. (thank God)

If I were you, I'd just give them a call, and ask if they would accept a Western Union money order (which are everywhere) or if there are different ways of payment. One would think there would be.....

Thanks Breezy. I'm sure I'll work it out.

Here's another question,
for the Italian husband's birth certificate:
It seems that Italian certificati ed estratti di nascita don't normally include the parents' names, and the US requires the parents' names on the birth certificate, if I understand correctly. I saw on one of your lists somewhere that you had the estratto di nascita, articolo 3, which I've now realized (I think) means one that includes the parents' names. Okay, so how/where did you get that? Can you just go request it at the comune like any normal certificato or do you have to write to someone special or do something special?
