Ok I've downloaded the lastest N-400 and am going to get ready to fill the thing out. It looks like I have to send the $330 check and a $70 (biometrics) fee with it. Is this correct? Will they set up the Biometrics appointment for me and let me know when to do it, or is it something I have to fully arrange (I would think since I am sending them the $70, they set it up).

Also section 7 on the number of trips outside the country is a little frustrating. I'm understanding you have to show proof of your trips? Is this correct? I don't have any proofs I don't think, other then the odd stamp in my passport if I had used one. When I've driven across the border, my passport is never stamped, it only has at the airport. Do I have to send in documentation of all my trips?

As well, I can't remember all my trips in the past 5 years either, I can only put an estimate and I don't know the exact dates either. How has other people here dealt with this section?

Is there anything else I'm missing in the form that I need to send in at all? It mentioned there are other documents you should send, I'm not finding a list of exactly what I need to send along with the N-400 form. Or is that just it, I just send the N-400?

That's it for now. I'm going to try and send this off in a few days or so. Thanks...

Yes, you send both in, (up to you whether you want to do one cheque or two). They'll arrange the biometrics, and usually send you the notice AFTER the NOA-1 ("received app")--though in my case, they actually sent the both together.

No, I didn't have to send in proof of each trip; just put your best "guesstimate" of the dates of the ones you can remember (the only ones you have to list are the ones over 24 hours).

If you were ever refused entry into US, explanation of the circumstances (you can use an excel sheet separate page).

Reports + our experience is that you get a receipt NOA quickly--w/in a week or so. Right about a week after that, your'll get the bio appointment letter. They are allegedly not scheduling interviews until namechecks are back, so they seem to be getting the fingerprinting out of the way asap.
Watch your DO timelines for how long you can expect to interview. We were inside of our DO's posted processing date.

DAH did not provide any proof of his trips out of the US; record them to the very best of your recollection.

Congrats on the step! Didn't realize you were so close to being ready! smile.gif

Thanks for the information. Yep, I was able to send it in last week (on the 10th) which is the 60 days prior to my official Permenent resident date in Jan 10th. So, just kind of taking my time dreading paying over the $400 or so for it. It mentioned to send in other documentation as well, like rental agreements, joint bank stuff etc. Sounds very similar to the interview I had to become a permenent resident. Didn't know I would have to get photocopies of all that again. Guess since it's marriage based they just want to make sure I guess.

Hopefully I'll be getting things sent out this week then and will wait to see what happens. Yeah, with the trips, never denied entry or anything, just a few short trips back to Canada here and there and one (about 5 years ago from now) to India and England for work. That's about it...

Yes, because you are applying under a waiver of the original 5-year PR requirement, you need to show evidence that you qualify for that waiver.
A few things,...it's no big deal. smile.gif

Oh one more thing, since I wasn't in the military or anything, do I still have to send in a G-325B at all? It's the biographic information. I thought my N-400 needed it, however, I look online and it seems it's only for military persons.

Just wondering if anyone else sent that in with the N-400?

More specifically, only those who served in US military (CF service is not meaningful for this)--so no need for you to send in.

Cool thanks. I think I must have mis-read the instructions at home then. I looked at it online and noticed it said military. Ok so then I won't ask the question I had about the G-325B form since I won't have to worry about it. One less thing to fill out and cramp my hand.

Getting passport shots done today and sending in with my N-400:

Copies of:
Last years tax copy (showing wifes name as my spouse)
Rental Agreement (just re-signed a few weeks ago)
Joint Bank Account thing
Wifes Birth Certificate
My Green Card (front and back)
Check for N-400 and Biometrics

Anything else I'm forgetting or is that basically it?

Tax returns for your whole time as a resident?
warlord
Ahhhh, crap, ok I'll have to go dig that out too. Just about to send it today ha ha. So I'm just sending in my Federal (not state) tax where I filed single (but have the wifies listed on there because it's married filing single). I just read it mentioned some of the things you could submit so thought the last tax return was good enough. Ok have to find the other one now...
meauxna
Well go triple check it then... I'm not caffienated enough to state that all those years are a requirement. smile.gif I just threw them in because they were handy.
Or did I?
I see my recordkeeping got a little thin by the time of this application....

Well I'll throw in the last one (since that was in the 2 years of being a conditional resident) and send it off. Guess I don't need to have nearly as much stuff as when I got the conditions removed (which luckly wasn't that long ago). And if they want anything more, I guess they'll contact me.

Damn I really wanted to get it sent out today, well maybe I can. Just been going to the uscis.gov site and doing the practice US Civics questions. That's a fun little program they have. Though I doubt the questions they give you will be multiple choice though during the interview...
