I remember seeing somewhere a question on using electronic DS-156's for Montreal. I just received my packet 4 and I can confirm that it is so.

" All form DS-156 are now required in an electronically-completed format available through the internet. Handwritten DS-156's will no longer be accepted...If you appear for your interview with a handwritten DS-156, your visa will be significantly delayed."

They even went to the trouble of highlighting this for me...so they must be serious!!

The link for this form is htttp://evisaforms.state.gov

Just wanted to pass this along.

Thanks for the update. Wonder if they want the I-156K done electronically too? I plan on doing it both ways regardless.. just so I don't run into problems.

Thanks for the info. I did it both ways as well for the DS-156. However, I didn't know it was possible to do the DS-156K electronically.

Ok.. they are now putting them in the Packet, so it is officially their policy for electronically printed DS-156..

Odd.. they did a complete 180 from not wanting electronic types forms at all to now only wanting them...

Must have someone new in charge...

I'm glad this place is here because otherwise I wouldn't know about the electronic form. I wonder what would happen to those of us who got our interview letter and didn't get the form regarding the electronic DS-156. Would they turn us away because of it? I did both, I'm just curious what would happen to those who got their interview letters before/with me and have their interviews soon.

Funny (well not so funny) thing as well is that when they sent me packet 3, they included OUTDATED DS-156 and 156K forms ... wacko.gif So not only have they done a 180 - but it looks like they are just trying to get rid of old stock too, lol, with no mention in packet 3 about the electronic forms.

Yeah it's sort of funny actually, I got my packet 3 last week and it had the old forms and nothing about using the electronic forms. I waited almost two weeks to get packet 3, and the day before it came I'd called to see if they actually sent it and they told me they would send me another one in case the original got lost in the mail. So I just got another packet 3 yesterday(a week after the first one) and it had an updated checklist stating that they would no longer take handwritten DS-156's(but they included the forms anyway!).

Maybe..it is added as an addendum, and like I said someone went to the trouble of taking a highlighter over the relevant sections. I for one, feel like I've been warned smile.gif

It just specifies it for the DS-156. For the DS-156K it says "Complete the single copy of the Form DS-156K..." refering to the one sent in packet 3, I imagine.

Did mine both ways - it does say on the website in RED! that you must complete them on the computer. They did not ask for them peticularly at my interview on the 15th of Sept- but BE PREPARED! Plus just so you know they say 7:30 for the doors, but they opened at 7!
