Hello everyone:
I am in the process of applying for my dual citizenhip. I finally got the paper from Germany that allows me to have dual.
I am now in the process of sending in the paper for my N-400 application but have some questions.
1. What can I expect to be asked at the interview ?
Since I am doing my dual citizenship will the officer asked me that ? If so what do I tell him ?
There is a question on the application if I owe any taxes ?
Yes, I do owe taxes, that I am trying to clean up ? Will that slow down my application or will it maybe get denied because of that ?
2. How long after sending in the application do I get the interview ?
Thanks for your help guys

In the interview, the officer goes through the entire application with you, asking the questions verbally.
There are 10 civics questions, all from the study list.
There is a writing sample where you write a short sentence in English. My DAH's was "You cook very well".
Everyone who is naturalizing has *some* other citizenship. I've never heard of anyone being asked anything about their original citz.
If you are paying your back taxes, have documentation about your payment agreement. They want to know that you are taking care of your legal obligation. Just owing tax is not bad.
How long depends on your District Office; you can watch local processing times for an idea. The goal of CIS is to complete all cases within 6 months. You will not be called for an interview until your name checks have cleared (I believe).
After you send in the app, you will get a receipt. Aboiut one week later, you should get a fingerprint appointment letter.
Thanks for your help. I will try to clean up my IRS mess before I go.
Do they also ask you how you got to the US ?
The reason why I am asking this is... a while ago I was traveling out of the country and when
I came back the lady at the INS at the airport asked me all kinds of wonderful questions.
Like how I got here on a visa ? and what I did then ? Why I travel to Mexico so much ......
I was in total panic mode when this lady was asking me all this
Originally when i came to the US I came to visit boyfriend for vacation, somehow someway 2 days later
we got married

... I applied for a greencard and 2 years later I got it. I know now that this is not the
proper way and I should have came over here on a K1 visa.... well 16 years later, I am divorced and applying for my dual citizenship and I am worried when I go to the INS they put me thru the same ??
Should I maybe consult a lawyer.
Thanks for the help

Do you think they are going to ask me this at the interview too ?
