I am completing the forms for "Packet 3" that Fernanda will need for the Consulate. Some of them I have found online in Portuguese & English. The others are only in English.

Questions:
1) Since Fernanda does not speak English, is it a problem at the Consulate if I complete only the English versions of the forms and send to her for her Interview?

2) Will the Consulate think that she has no idea what she's signing and deny her Visa?

3) Are the documents in Packet 3 that she will eventually receive from the Consulate in Brazil in both English and Portuguese?


- DS-230 Part 1 -- Biographical data sheet. (English)
- DS-156 -- Nonimmigrant visa application form (English & Portuguese)
- DS-156K -- Nonimmigrant fiance(e) visa application (English & Portuguese)
- DS-157 -- Supplemental Nonimmigrant Visa Application (Only English)

If I'm not mistaken you'll find all the forms that come in Packets 3 and 4 in Portuguese on the Rio consulate website. And yes, we get forms in Portuguese and English in our packets. I don't remember if I've gotten DS-230 in Portuguese though.

The forms that must be returned to the consulate so Fernanda'll get Packet 4 in the mail are DS-2001 and DS-230 (part1). DS-156, DS-156K and DS-157 (and others) will be filled out (not signed) and brought to the interview.
