This is something I always wanted to know....how important is the priority date? What does it do for you? I´ve been curious about it for a while now...I wonder if it can help me speed things up at the consulate.

Alix,
Priority Date is the petition date for which visas in categories that have quotas are now available.
Marriage-based visas do not have quotas, so visas are always immediately available, and the Priority Date is always current.
Not an issue for you.
