Erik
Is this true? Holy crap, if it is I hope it doesn't go on very long, how the hell will I get money over to my fiance... yikes! unsure.gif
LiszyandKenny
I know she doesn't live in a big city but ask her if there is any Exchange place in her city... There are some here in SP that has Western Union in it and she can get the money there. I always go there instead of going to the bank.
And yeah... it is true tongue.gif

"Gulp" unsure.gif I know there is no place like that in her city, because when I was there visiting we had to go to the bank to exchange my money.

hummm.. then let's hope it will be a short strike smile.gif
Ana and Dan
Yes, they're on strike. I dont think everyone is though. Ana works for the federal bank in SP, and I know she went to work today. Usually doesn't last long at all...maybe 2-3 days.

On another note, we finally got our Interview today! December 5th!!!

Hey Dan,

You live where in the Seattle area??? If in Seattle, tell Ana I will be 3 hours away... We live in Wenatchee.

Carol wink.gif
Ana and Dan
Hey Carol, yes I live about 15 minutes East of Seattle, in Sammamish. I will certainly tell her you're pretty close. She's been looking for some kind of Brasilian scene in Washington! Talk to you later!

Go to Western Union web site and search for agents in Brazil. Most are banks, but there are some agents that are not.

Bill
Erik
Congrats Ana & Dan!!! kicking.gif

Bill, thanks for the tip. I've checked, and unfortunetly all agents are Banks in her area... so hopefully it will be a short ordeal, and won't affect us. How are things going with you and Eulalia? Haven't heard from you guys in a while!

i'm not gonna bet on it lisz tongue.gif - last night nessa and i talked to one of her friends who works at a bank, it don't sound like it's going to be resolved soon.
erik - western union is probably your best bet due to some banks not participating in the strike and some may be strictly western union. your fiance would have to research that and inform you so you'll have more info to go on. hopefully western union is still functioning in her area. best wishes.

oh yeah, as we were leaving Curitiba this morning I could swear I saw one Bradesco bank opened. But when we arrived here my mom said banks are all closed. Maybe they started opening in big cities.
Huggles all!!
Erik
Well fortunetly the bank (Banco do Brasil) was still open in her city. So, at least I was able to get her some money to finish up what she needs to do before the interview. I just hope, that this strike clears before the week she leaves, so I can send her the rest of the money she is going to need for when she arrives in Rio.

Dont know if Itau is closed or in her city but we used emoneygram to transfer cash which goes through this bank in Brasil. Never had a problem with this service and when I last checked it seemed less expensive.

I am sure the strike will be over soon.

Good luck
