Here's a description of my DP's visa interview. We went on Monday and arrived at 8:45 for a 9am appointment. I went with my DP and brought along our 15 month old son. We waited until they finally reviewed the first set of his papers (voucher of payment, the forms from packets 3 and 4) and then we sat down again to wait for a LONG time. I didn't get a chance to talk to any other K-1 applicants because it was a struggle keeping the baby entertained. The room was very crowded and I didn't notice any other American citizens with Peruvian fiancees. Then we were called to window 9 where a Peruvian embassy official reviewed some of the financial papers, asked for the birth certificate of the baby, looked at my passport and made a few initial questions (how many times have i been to peru, how did we meet, etc). The two major snags were that 1. he's not listed as the father on the birth certificate yet (we delayed sending in the papers because we couldn't agree on whether or not to change the baby's name...and the new birth certificate still hasn't arrived) and 2. two of the co-sponsors (my parents) forgot to put in a copy of their passport with the notarized affadavit form. They asked a lot of questions about the birth certificate, and I was certain they were going to ask to see the updated birth certificate when it was available, but they didn't. Then we sat down again to wait. Then we were called back to window 9 to be interviewed by a blonde woman with very pink fingernails. She didn't talk to my DP almost at all, she asked me a bunch of questions, most of which seemed like chitchat and not a real interview (she asked what i was studying in school, whether my son was in daycare or not, etc...not many things that were pertinent to our relationship). She asked to see relationship evidence but only wanted to see photos, the letters and phone calls she didn't want to see. I think she preferred to speak in English because she really only asked one or two questions to my DP. Then she said that we were accepted and congratulations.

I'd be happy to answer any questions about the Lima process, the interview, etc. Just post the questions here or PM me.
