I have a real strange situation here. I have been waiting for 4 weeks now for the NVC to get my case. Today when I called the person asked me what the first line of my NOA2 says. It says:
"The above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate."
When I told them that the person said that it will go straight to the embassy. When I said that isn't the usual order they said that some go that way. I called the USCIS and they said the same thing. I asked how I could track my case without a new case number and they directed me to the DOS. I called the DOS and they never heard of such a thing!!!
So here is my question. Please look at your NOA2. Does the first line say it's been forwarded to the consulate or the NVC? If it says the consulate has you gotten notice that it went to the NVC anyway?
Thanks!

Hello All,
Mine (both I130 and I129F NOA2's) say:
"The above petition has been approved. We have sent the original visa application to the Department of State National Visa Center (NVC)......."
For the I129F I then got a very rapid response (9 days) that it had been forwarded to the consulate.
Hope that helps,

Gary, mine says the approved petetion has been sent to the NVC. Strange that they would just send
anything to the consulate. Based on their demonstrated lack of efficiency I would not rest until this
matter is dealt with. The call center people knows as much as we do....if that much. Keep e-mailing,
calling UNTIL this matter is resolved. God Bless.

I called the USCIS and got connected to a nice person who told me conflicting information that the NVC doesn't receive your case and that is goes straight to the Embassy from the service center. So then I told the guy well my I797 letter says the following "that your case will be sent to the National Visa Center" blah blah.. Then he said your letter is not correct?? Now the USCIS said to call the following number 1-202-663-1225 and inquire about it.
This is getting too funny that the USCIS doesn't even know the how the approved cases are handled??
The fun continues...

Gary, My NOA2 said it was sent to NVC and when i called Nvc 2 days later i recieved my case #. I recieved a letter from NVc that my case will be forwarded to the embassy, it was forwarded to the embassy 4 days later. You need to call NVC and get your case #. If you do not have a case # your case cannot get to the embassy. The embassies work by case #. Goodluck !

This is your NOA2 - not the notification from the NVC. *Normally* cases are sent from the service center to the NVC where they are issued a case number and then sent to the embassy or consulate.
Gary, in your case it sure seems unusual. I would be back on the phone with the NVC or the embassy ASAP. My notification from NVC, both email and hard copy, said it had been received by the NVC, gave me a new case number, and was forwarded to the consulate. The consulate then responded to my inquiry email indicating that it had been received from the NVC and used the same case number. Good luck!

Okay, I have been around for awhile. and it used to be that both the I-129F and the I-130 was sent to the NVC. From there the I-129F was forwarded to the consulate for processing and the I-130 was processed by the NVC.
Now what I am seeing is that a "hit and miss" of the I-129F's are being sent directly to the consulate. Okay, a little off the normal course, but it would have gone there anyway since the only thing that the NVC does with it is forward it to the consulate.
Don't worry, I am sure its all okay.

The approved petition should go to the NVC and stay there for few days where the NVC should assign a case number and then forward the case to the Embassy. Please email NVC and ask them questions. The email is: NVCINQUIRY@state.gov
Make sure, you write your USCIS receipt number on the subject line when you email NVC.

Gary,
Someone told me (probably my attorney) that K1 cases used to be sent directly to consulates . Then they changed the procedure and started routing them through NVC. You may research if this is really true. If so, I am wondering if CSC used an old form letter for your NOA2. Whether that is a problem, only embassy or USCIS can tell. Best Wishes.

I had read this on the USCIS website, can't remember where though. They claimed they were having problems with lost petitions and this was suppose to help with that. I can't quite see the strategy in it, seems to me that this will double the chance of lost mail, but then again, nothing the government does seems to make sense.

I found out JUST NOW NVC is the one that gets our cases first........They ran security checks and they assigned it a number!! woo hoo!! To the embassy it goes, I have been pestering everyone today....I guess the best advise is KEEP CALLING until someone gives you a straight answer!! I was told if your embassy case # is not on your NOA2 then it wasn't send directly there!!
Good luck and God Bless

Yeah I thought the samething that the NVC gets our cases unless as noted your NOA2 has a case number for the embassy that your case is going to.

I just called the USCIS again and talked to a supervisor. He said that unless they changed something and didn't tell him (IMBRA anyone?) that ALL K-1's still go through the NVC. He had no explanation for the wording on my NOA2, he had no explanation for what the NVC told me and he could not explain why the first level support at the USCIS told me what they did. I think I going to be sick.

After 6 months of waiting for my NOA2 and a month so far waiting for the NVC to get my case, now this!!!!

So could he tell you the exact whereabouts of your petition and what would happen if it was sent directly to the embassy - would that create any problem for you? Can you get confirmation from the embassy that it is indeed there?

Both the NVC and the USCIS said there is no way to know where my petition is. It could be sitting at the CSC, sitting at the NVC, somewhere in between or on it's way to Manila.

My lawyer is sending an inquiry to Manila to see if it made there. My only hope is that it's still at the CSC or on it's way to the NVC. Without a MNL case number it's unlikely that the Manila embassy will do anything with it.
AARRRGGG!!!!! What does the CSC have against me????

OK so this is the last thing you want to hear but . . . hang in there. Your lawyer can make the inquiry and get you some kind of definitive answer. If it is not in Manila and not at the NVC, you can contact the senator's office to go back to CSC and find out what happened. I really think this will resolve itself in a matter of a few days. I hope you can get through it without going totally crazy as you and Luz have had MORE than enough of this crap. Fingers crossed for ya Gary!

Gary, I am willing to bet that the just imputed the wording incorrect on your NOA2. They approved so many petitions that week/and day, just mixed up the key stroke. NVC just reveived mine today and assigned the case number to us. Call them again tonight, and see, also call tomorrow too (NVC). Don't tell them about the wording when you call, as it will confuse them for sure. I think you will get good news in the next 24 hours.
