download the form and read the "Who May Use Form I-864EZ?" section. there's 3 conditions and all have to be true on your case. if not, use the I-864... at least that's how i understood it. sometimes the words used on these documents are confusing because they are covering their a$$es at the same time

i'll be using the I-864EZ form because i'm only petitioning my wife and my taxes will be the only one i'm providing with the documents. hope that helps
