Greetings everyone! Just registered today but have been lurking for a bit as time permits. I am wondering if there is a section that details what some things like RFE etc stand for so I won't feel so lost.

you might find this page helpful. I think the only term missing is "touches". Touches are changes to your online status for your case using the USCIS website.

For Nigeria, be sure to find the other VJ users for your area--your Consulate is unique.

Karly-n-Bruce, your Local Office (also known as a District Office) is the USCIS office that will serve you in the US. You can find out which one it is at uscis.gov; look on the right hand side.

I will look in the regional area of the board so I can get a better understanding of what you mean by that. I have looked at others timelines though. Solo has been granted travel visas to the US previously so he is a bit familiar with the Consulate from the non-immigrant procedures.
