Hi Guys,

I am USC and filed for my fiancée 07/25 and later got approved 09/21 through TSC, and received letter from NVC, today. My questions to the forum are: Can my fiancée go straight to the US Embassy in Lagos and pickup the Packages I and II and schedule the interview or does she have to wait for the letter from the embassy?
Nigerian Postal service is very good but sometime you can’t be sure of everything and I do not want her to miss appointment or anything because of postal service.

you have to wait like a week before you go to the consulate to pick up the packet 3 and 4, or better still email the consulate and you will be informed if they received it from NVC already. That was what i did, i emailed the consulate and i was emailed back to come and pick up the packet 3 and 4 .Wishing you all the best.

Love4ver: what did the letter from NVC say? my timeline is similar to yours but I haven't yet received the NVC letter, so I'm curious about what it tells you (if anything).

NVC told me in the mail that the case was forwarded to lagos, August 18 and i wrote lagos on august 28 and got the response on 29 to come with the email and the approval notice. so i went there on the 31st and was asked to wait for the pick up and i was given oct 4th for the interview.

You email US Embassy in Lagos and asked you to come with sent email and approval letter? You in US here but when you said "so i went there on the 31st and was asked to wait for the pick up and i was given oct 4th for the interview" you refering to finace/finacee in Lagos, doing that for you?
Can my finacee go to Embassy with Approval letter and received email from embassy "if I receive email" and she will be given appt time and package I and II?

Just wondering if the NVC actually completed your case already and forwarded it to Lagos? I'm not sure about K visas, but for our Cr1 the interview date came after the case had been received by the Lagos CO.

This reply is based on a process in evolution. I intend to write a detailed account of this process that hopefully will stay in the Nigeria Embassy review section for awhile. It has certainly taken a lot of energy trying to sift out information where they maybe in previous threads.

Other site members- Taye500, Neya, Sercontigo, Alyce- to mention a few have been very helpful and i thank them.

My timeline also explains further. This is what i have observed from our own process. NVC often turns the case files around very quickly once received from USCIS (sometimes the very next day). NVC sent my files to Lagos (presumably on 9/7/2006). This information was received by calling NVC at 603 334 0700 armed only with the USCIS number. I mention this because you may receive the NVC letter stating case has been sent to Lagos days after NVC actually mailed the case to Lagos.

Anyway i have no way of verifying exact date Lagos received the files. I was busy trying to update address and so my e-mail correspondence with Lagos embassy had to do with address update. Finally on 9/18/2006, i received an e-mail saying the case has been "uploaded into the system" but with no mention of the address update, the theme of my prior e-mails to Lagos embassy.

I decided to wait for 10business days before having my fiancee head to embassy for the inquiry. I really did not want her being turned away because the case had not gotten prepped to the point of issuing the Packets. Moreover there were other issues at hand such as obtaining police report and getting other documents, she would need, to Nigeria. I had opted for Fedex but after all was said and done, i was staring at $385.00 and i had not even been charged some tax on jewelry yet. I finally looked for an alternative...would you believe after reclaiming my package from Fedex (some last minute afterthought). That alternative was finding someone travelling to Lagos. By paying for an extra suitcase (less than $200.00) i was able to get all the documents to my fiancee. It was risky placing those documents in the plane but i was willing to take my chances what with the luxury of all i could pack into one suitcase. The irony of it all is that the suitcase arrived Lagos before Fedex would have delivered. I guess it was more of perfect timing that i found someone travelling at just the right time.

My fiancee collected her packets today 09/27/2006. Let me say this in bold prints because i searched for this piece of info so many times and it took Taye500 underscoring the affirmative before i could get going but i guess that`s because enough people didnt just spell it out..........or perhaps i just could not locate thethread where similar facts had been depicted.

Yes you can collect your packages by going to the embassy with NOA2 (USCIS approval notice) and the NVC letter. Wednesday is specifically set aside for inquiries but note the time for that is from 11a.m.[/[font=Arial Black] Again i did not know this "minute" fact and i sent my fiancee out there as early as 6a.m.....So 11a.m Wednesdays but it may also be possible to make inquiries on other weekdays. I can only report on the facts as i know them.

She did not like all the long hours but she persevered and went through what seemed like the actual interview to the point where she was given the packets and an interview date of Nov 15. If she wakes up sometime this year, i intend to get a very detailed report of the contents of the so-called packed "sheets of paper stapled together" is the summary of what i have obtained thus far from her. I want and will get more details posted.

I think often we get to a point where we are either so excited or have a lot going on...travel plans, more communication with S.O that we forget those yearning for information....just littlew titbits of information that can make a difference in plans and logistics. I intend tgo do my bit and post most of what i have here on the Nigerian Embassy section. I will add to this after my fiancee`s interview and paste.

Yes, copies are acceptable. Fiancee and others were not called till about 11.30a.m. 10-10.30am is a good range to shoot for arriving at the embassy on Wednesday.

the time to come to the embassy is any buiness day except on friday, and enquiry time starts 11am monday to thursday. i like what you are doing, giving people information which is better than walking blindly.thank you.

Be informed that if you do not receive the instruction packet at least four weeks before that date, you can come in any business day except Friday, by 11:00 AM, join the inquiry line and pick up a packet. You need to come with a copy of this email and the Notice of Approval.

If my finacee goes to embassy in Lagos and get the packages 3 and 4 , does she have to return package 3 before interview day? Or she would come to interview with packages 3 and 4 together?
Need to get my facts right for her.

I was about to go into another long story regarding these packets but let me make it short: Concentrate on getting your fiance to obtain the police report and getting all other documents ready: correct passport pictures, knowing the location of Kamorass clinic (if she doesn`t already), organizing the documents she already has (assuming you have sent all those documents from here....phone bills/records/calling cards, e-mails, Form I-134, all other evidence that should be updated as close to September as possible...paystubs, bank statements, letter from employer, etc etc etc.... I think if you have ensured all documents have gotten to her and she has taken care of business from her end, then the packets should not be an issue. You would simply be ticking off from the check list that is pretty much what the packets would be.

Returning packet 3 translates to being at the interview with police report, medical report and having all other documents that may be listed on the instructions. Showing up for interview = returning packet 4 and all other documents.

As i type this, i still have no concrete idea of what the contents of the so-called packets are but they are clearly nothing more than instructions about the various documents to gather for the interview.

Since i never was able to get a clear list of the contents, i did the next best thing i could: send all possible documents to my fiancee. I think a cursory view at P3 and P4 has assured her she has everything which explains why she could leave Lagos rather urgently.

Whenever she comes back i still intend to get a page by page description of the packets. This is important because anybody going through the info out in the general forum might get confused.....all this talk about received and returned P3....and then how P4 took a stroll into central park.....

Perhaps someone else out here, who has actually seen all the pages can do a better job of explaining to you. All i have tried to do here is tell you exactly what i did about 2weeks ago when, like you, i was asking the same damn question: WHAT ARE THE CONTENTS OF P3 AND P4?

I must admit that on more than one occassion, i got very vague answers. I promised myself i will do a better job of answering the same questions, in more details, to another person. I have not even begun with the details......

It's been over a month since NVC acknowledged that our case was forwarded to Lagos; however, after several emails to them, they (Lagos) has not confirmed receipt of our case. My husband will make a trip to the Consulate Office on next week with photocopies of the NOA2 and NVC Letter.
