hi friends,
the following are the documents that I already have:

police certificate (philippines) - sept. 2006
police certificate (france) - august 2006
police certificate (thailand) - october 2005

do i need to renew all of them? please, i'd appreciate all the suggestions that you could give. God's willing, my interview might be in december.

Those are the dates when you got them or when they expire?
'Cus birth certificates as far as I know don't expire.

hi luis and laura,
thanks a lot for the fast reply! sorry, but the dates indicate when I had gotten these documents and not their expiration.

The birth certificate will never expire.
I don't know about the cenomar or nbi clearance.
The police reports will depend on the consulate. Some consulates say that police reports are good for one year, while others say they are only good for 6 months (unless it has a specific expiry date printed on it). Not sure about Manila. Couldn't find this information on their site. You will probably have to get your Thailand police report again since it would be over 1 year old at the time of your interview.
Somebody else going through Manila wanna chime in here....

you need to renew the clearances if they expire before your interview(except overseas police certificates since you are out of that country already)

the 2006 documents should be ok. only 3 to 4 months old at the time interview. not sure about police certificate from Thailand. if you have not been in Thailand since Oct 2005 maybe it's ok. i'd email the Embassy to make sure.

See 9 FAM 42.65 N3 - I'd check with the consulate though.

I see that you have listed a police certificate for the philippines AND the NBI clearance? What is the difference? I saw the NBI clearance needed for the interview, but I thought the police certificate was only needed for foreign countries lived in. Should I have Jenalyn get a police certificate in the Philippines? Or is the NBI enough?
Thanks.

hi bjzags,
i just wanted to make sure that i have other supporting documents to show just in case that they would need it. i'm NOT sure if police clearance is necessary though. btw, Mew, what does 9 FAM 42.65 N3 mean?

FAM is the Foreign Affairs Manual. 9 is the "chapter" that deals with visas. Try googling it and you'll find a pdf file.
