My husband has his interview on October 5th in Caracas. I was just wanted to take a quick poll and see how long it has taken between the interview to getting the K-3 visa in hand. We're trying to get an estimate on when we'll be traveling to the states and just how long we'll be spending in Caracas. Any chance that we could get it the same day or the next?

It's been almost two years since we went through it, so things may have changed, but we picked the visa up at the DOMESA office in downtown Caracas the next morning.

Obviously, there's no guarantee you'll be approved on the day of the interview, so there's a possibility for a delay because of incomplete paperwork or any other problem that caused the visa to not be approved that day. So keep your plans flexible.

If you are approved, their policy when we went through was to prepare the visa and give it to the DOMESA courier service that night. When you were approved, they gave you a slip of paper to fill out and give to the DOMESA clerk who was at a desk just outside the consulate building. You'd write down the address where you wanted to have the visa delivered, and pay a small postage fee. You could also choose to have it held at the DOMESA office where you would pick it up personally. If you picked it up at the office, it would be there the next morning. The postage fee was the same whether you chose pick up or delivery (seems like it was about Bs 15000, but I don't remember).

The policy was that all visas went through DOMESA. They would not allow us to pick up the visa at the embassy.

If you do choose to have it delivered, it will take up to three days after your interview (business days). I dont know if K3 get the brown envelope too.

When I got my visa, I received this big envelope with my passport and the brown envelope inside. I was freaked out, because they tell you so many times not to open the envelope and I thought it had even my passport inside. But no, open the biggest envelope, get you passport and DO NOT open the other envelope. That's for the immigration officer.

Just in case you're like me and pay everything with plastic...
That's a no can do with the American Embassy in Vzla. You need the $100 convertes in Bs and in CASH!! Dont forget to bring that or they wont issue your visa until next week.
