If you telephone USCIS does that show up automatically as a touch on your case even though someone may not have even handled your file at all ?

Well I called on the 19th and saw a touch on the 21st . I decided to call again ont the 22nd and speak to someone again and I saw a touch late in the evening on the 22. According to this test , it seems the touch are only login of a called relating to that receipt number

yes! people often get touched after a call to the USCIS, maybe 1/3 of the time. So, it isnt bad or good. Usually the touch will read something like "we will send out a notification to your question etv etc etc"
Good Luck!

Yes. I happened to me. I listened to the prompt as if I were inquiring about a recent RFE that I had received. When I got a live person on the line, I explained to them that I haven't yet received the IMBRA RFE. 2 days after that call, my petition was touched (first time). I'm not sure whether it was mere coincidence or not.

I have had touches after e-mails. I would just write it off to the phone calls to be honest with you. Sometimes they update it sometimes they don't. They aren't consistent.
